Is there a way to resize videos for adding to emails on Windows 10 or do I have to download a program? If so which one is simple and safe?

How big are are your video files?

I know of nothing built into Windows 10.

Unless it is very short, compressing a good video to fit email attachment limitations will make it a bad video.

There are choices. Every video editing program ("non linear editor") I know of has export or output routines that allow you to reduce the quality and size of the final file. Another choice is the free, downloadable program called Handbrake. It won't do "editing" but will also compress, shrink and change formats at the cost of quality.

Most videographers choose an alternate to email for sharing. YouTube is the King. I like Vimeo better and pay an annual fee for my account. One of the Vimeo options is that the viewer has the choice of playing a version of the video that matches their device or actually downloading a copy of the uploaded original.

Some use DropBox, Google Drive or OneDrive to distribute video.

bsprague pretty well covered your options. The only other alternate I can think of is to cut your video into clips, which would obviously require multiple emails & watching, but could lower your file size tremendously. It would also allow you to cut out the sections that don't need to be there and just send the important sections, but would require software. Uploading to YouTube (or Vimeo) may be best option and I believe you can still password protect if you just want to just send link to selected people. (I upload all my travel videos to YouTube but they are available to public - haven't checked if you can still password protect like in the past)

Videos easily overrun the attatchment size limitation for email systems. Your best bet would be a file sharing cloud service like Dropbox, etc. Open a shared folder and invite others to share.

Vimeo does have a good privacy protection system with multiple choices.

Thank you all for your advice. The file size on the videos run around 100mg. I may try dropbox to see how that works, not really sure how to file share but will find out. Thanks again.
I am thinking back to Windows 7 I think had a movie program to work videos, should have kept my old laptop.

Actually Movie Maker came in XP and Vista versions, but you could load it into Win 7, but don't think Win 10 will allow it even if you could find it. Although I use Power Director's latest version 16, a powerful software and best in my estimation, still miss Movie Maker for quick, easy, simple videos.

Windows Live Movie Maker does run under Windows 10. It stayed on my computer from when I installed the optional Windows Essentials package under Windows 7 and upgraded it to 10. It still runs fine. I don't use it because I've adopted Premiere Elements for my video editor.

What other platforms are you on? We might be able to offer some options. Obviously Windows, but for example, do you have an Android phone or iPhone, Windows phone etc?

Windows 10 should have the Story Remix Video Editor program. If you don't have it, there are lots of free ones.

But that leads to the question of what you are trying to accomplish by "sharing" in an email.

If you want to show someone a clip, then yes, output in a smaller video size (don't need HD videos in an email)

If you are trying to share the file, so someone else can edit it, then use one of the file transfer services like Drop Box. Most have basic free accounts that will suit your needs.

You'll need a separate program. PS Elements Premier will do it, plus a lot more. When you finish a video for use you have to "publish" it to a viewable format at a selected quality. 720P or higher for TV's and less for on-line use like YouTube. The higher the quality, the bigger the file and unless you have a really high upload speed it's gonna take a while to upload.

You don't want to go low quality for YouTube really. It shows in the output when people do. There is even 4K content on YouTube nowadays.

I recently had to send several large video files to a marketing company and they suggested a sight called www.wetransfer.com . It was free and simple to use.

Thank you all for your information. I will look into these and try some of your ideas. Yes Windows Essential Movie Maker was what I used on Windows 7.
ToBoldlyGo I have an Android Samsung S8.

Hi there CWHI1444,
My ALL time favorite video converter is a long "no longer available" software from Arcsoft Media Converter 7. I use it it frequently on my Windows 7 OS PC. But more recently, there is another software called Any Video Converter Pro that works with more current OS's. Google Any Video Converter Pro and you'll discover that it offers one of the best and fastest media conversion/compression packages for almost every conceivable video format out there.
