Why not print them yourself on a photo printer?

Will not the cost of photo paper and ink replacement be higher than having inexpensive lab prints made, if one can find someone who maintains their equipment properly?

Not really. You need a printer anyway.

I just really don't want to take the time or have the hassle. I am betting it wouldn't be much cheaper after buying ink, etc.

I have used Sams Club photo lab for years in 3 states. I have copyright release in all 3 states, and they do a great job. All the way up to poster size on board for Art Association prints. They also use Fuji paper and printing. 5x7 prints are .58, 4x6 is .17, and 8x10, maybe 4.00. I cannot say enough about how good they are for the price. Shhhh, don't tell where my lab is.

What lab do you all use for your personal prints, not to give to a client? I use a pro lab for my clients which charges over a dollar just for a 4x6. But don't want to spend this much for, say, my family vacation prints, which can number in the hundreds for a long trip. Shutterfly's color has been disappointing, Nations can't get orders right. Need a good, cheap, reliable lab. Thank you.

Sam's Club.

Several print companies are good but in general but you'll want one that takes care of their printer and that may not be your local drug store. The price may be good though.

Don't forget to do a search for free, or reduced price, initial trial prints. Often you can find your initial 20 to 50, 4x6 prints done for free. (They are likely glossy only.)

Costco has never let me down. Prints, enlargements and photo books have all been very satisfactory.

For the same reason I don't use a photo printer for proofs. When you add up the cost of the inks and paper, it is a very expensive proposition when compared to cheap labs where a 4X6 can be under $0.10 each.

Let me know a lab where I can get 4X6 prints on premium photo paper for under $0.10 each with no shipping cost. In other words net cost under $0.10.

They are .17 now, and the cheapest, for the best quality, that I canfind.

What lab are you using? I'll check them out. My HP Premium Plus paper costs me $0.14 per page before adding in cost of inks.

Sam's Club. Been my lab for several years now. Fuji paper and products. Very good quality. Well worth the membership fee, I keep it mostly for the photolab.

The question was "...What lab do you all use for your personal prints, not to give to a client?" It was not about premium paper or premium quality, it is about cheap prints with proper color correction.

Still Sam's for me. I'm picky for myself too!
