The better question is what makes the OP think we know bettor? After all, he asked the question that started all this. I could be wrong, but I believe he wanted more than 'yes or no'.

Oh, I agree 100%. Not only do we all, yes, I am including myself, think that we know better than others as to what will work based our OUR likes and dislikes, but it's also funny that people (I've done it too) want to ask a bunch of strangers what they should do with their hard earned money.

I do get asking about quality, or something like that, but when you say "should I upgrade?" We don't know you, and you don't know us.

I'm sure I'll still fall for it again later, but it was just something I was thinking about, as far as why this is a "thing" at all? I work with people afraid to make decisions, and I wonder if we don't all suffer from that to some degree when it comes to spending our own money?

Not picking on OP or anyone, just an observation and opinion.

But this is not limited to the internet, it's part of socializing. On the auto forums people always ask things like how much air should I put in my tires or what oil should I use. It's the same questions neighbors ask each other. Truth is, only the shadow knows.

That's why I always preface it with "I'm guilty of this too" I work at a mental hospital for my day job, and human interactions, both by "normal people" and those with "issues" fascinate me.
