I have the single camera cotton carrier, and I have used one whole day at Disney. It worked great, I think I will love it when I get used to it. The strap you speak of is to attach to your camera in case you drop it. It won't hit the ground. Sort of a safety feature. I also did not attach the hand strap that mine came with. I just chose to keep my optech strap on. Good luck with your carrier.

Yesterday I went to the Boyce Thompson Arboretum to try out some things: Like carrying two cameras on the Cotton Carrier I bought a couple of years ago and had never used; like perhaps trying my hand at some bird shots; etc. I found myself working on isolated subjects. That was totally unintentional. But let me know how you think I did, OK?

These have a bit of LR processing: Clarity, some exposure adjustment, contrast, standard sharpening. All from RAW images.

Oh, and by the way, the Cotton Carrier is fine, but carrying both cameras and my HEAVY 28-300 really slowed me down. Not sure if I can do it all day as I had planned. But at least the cameras weren't hanging on my neck. I do with the Carrier came with a water bottle holder, though.

And the bird shot? This will tell all you great birders why I don't shoot birds!

Thanks. I watched a couple of videos yesterday about how to configure the carrier. Now that I know about the straps, I'll feel more secure. Thanks for the info. I'm sure I'll get used to it. And it's SO nice to NOT have stuff hanging around my neck! Now I wish I had more belt carriers.

I still have to figure out where to put my flash, and batteries, stuff like that. I think I have to get something I can attach to the vest somewhere. I like my fill flash sometimes. But I definatly love not having all on my neck, and hands free secure when camera is not in use. That was great!
