the wife and i are going to the beach for a couple of days and i want to take photos in the early morning of the Large fishing boats getting ready to leave for the day. Can anyone recommend a good place for this.

I would like to capture the men getting under way and loading up.

Not sure where you are along the coast, but I used to live in Ottway, Nc which is near Harkers Island,Nc I did a lot of fishing there but that was 20 years ago not sure what it looks like now.

If you are near Nags Head go to Oregon Inlet Fishing Center. Down Hwy 12 just below the Bodie Island Lighthouse. Great place. Also the boats come back in around 3:30 pm.

Try Wanchese, NC. They are inland from the outer banks, they go out Oregon Inlet to the ocean. Google Wanchese commercial fishing, somebody posted some pictures on Flickr...

For commercial fishing trawlers try Wanchese off Rt 64 by Manteo Wanchese picture site attached.

Morehead City, NC would be a good place to try. Check the web for a web page to see if there is any info there. We have watched boats coming and going from the dock areas.

Go over the highrise bridge from morehead city to the drawbridge near Beaufort is another great place to see working boats. An additional place for receational boats is the Beaufort waterfront. The maritime Museum in Beaufort is another great place for photo Ops.
So much to see! If you have the time drive from hwy 64 south all the way to hwy 70 in morehead city
there's a marina at the entrance to the Bonner bridge that caters to working boats. Wild ponies near Ocracoke on highway 12. Stop on Harkers island near Beaufort and have Capt Jack take you out to the Shackleford lighthouse plus often you'll see the ponies there as well. Lots of Ibis at the wildlife information center on Harkers just past Capt jack's.
