A fantastic story and particularly wonderful that you shared here when so many UHH topics these days are complaints and negativity. Would love to see some of her work!

What a thoughtful gift for your granddaughter. My dad gave me his E3 back in the '80s. I've always found the TLRs to be difficult cameras to use, not least because the image in the focusing screen was reversed from left to right. I believe in newer models the top frame could be replaced with a pentaprism to allow for eye-level focusing. I did not use it much, but I still have it, and thanks to the heavy-duty leather case, it looks like new.

I hope your granddaughter enjoys her "new" camera for a long while to come.

That's awesome. I love that the Ilford guys gave 10x the film that Kodak did. lol.

it is so nice to know that there is still a young person who respects and appreciates elders. With kids like your granddaughter, there is hope for the country.
P.S. Your avatar shows a knuckle of a locomotive. Are you into model railroading?

Thanks TMcL. Actually, it has a pentaprism and I gave that to her also. I liked it but my granddaughter prefers the waist level finder. The pentaprism feels like it weighs more than the camera, makes it very top heavy.

I've given her two bricks of 120 TMax 100, outdated but still good. Don't think she's tried any Ilford film yet.

Thanks for your nice comments Rich. Actually, the avatar is from the U.P. Challenger (4-6-6-4) #3985 taken when it was in Omaha several years ago. It's one very photogenic piece of iron. I'm not into modeling but I do love photographing locomotives.

I can tell you from experience that promotion to Great Grandparent starts the fun all over again. We have 4 from 18 months to 7 yrs and just found out we'll be getting another in mid October. Be careful, cause Great Grandma gets to go shopping again for baby cloths and other stuff.
