The problem is, Steve, that it doesn't matter what the subject or forum, there will always be a complete nob who makes unjustifiable accusations. To be perfectly honest, I would not give a rat's todger if you were paid by Nikon: as a Nikon user myself, I have found your YouTube channel and input on UHH very informative. Your assessment and experience of the D500, Nikkor 300mm f4 PF VR and Nikkor 200 - 500mm f5.6, match my own. I therefore take heed of your reviews of Nikon equipment. By coincidence, I recently considered buying a D7200 or second D500 but changed to a D7500 after watching your review. Fortunately, my EM1.2 is behaving itself again - so I don't have.

We acknowledge your existence, that's all that matters!

Glad Steve was able to clear up this errant comment. I have never felt anything “unbalanced” in his comments. Seems to go out of his way to be “fair”, as well as exhaustively complete.

I thank everyone for their comments BUT no one commented on using a Tamron 150-600 G2 with either a D7200 or a D7500. Before I invest in a Nikon 200-500 I'd like input from those using the Tamron.

By the way, I think I'm leaning toward the D7500 based on Steve's YouTube review. I also watch ALL of his YouTube videos because I find them very informative. EX: I had kind of forgotten about circular polarizing filters until yesterday I "bumped into" Steve's comments in their regard from several years ago. I once again have a couple in my "go bag" and will be putting them to good use. Thanks, Steve! Take care & ...

I can tell you this much about the 150-600 G2...

I had the lens briefly - I was curious about it over the 200-500. The AF is faster and the lens is more feature rich. However, when I compared it against my (very good) copy of the 200-500, it just wasn't as sharp. For me, that's really the bottom line so I sent it back.

That said, PLEASE note that I have a very sharp copy of the 200-500 and maybe there are sharper copies of the 150-600 out there - I only tested a single lens.

Whichever camera body you get, make sure to buy Steve Perry's excellent "Secrets to the Nikon Autofocus system." I really appreciate that it is updated for the D7500 and it helped me familiar with mine.

As others have pointed out, I never detected any undue favoritism for Nikon in Mr. Perry's writings; he writes quite matter-of-factly about his impressions and uses of Nikon equipment and doesn't spend time praising everything Nikon offers. He writes quite like a person who knows his equipment really well and is sharing is knowledge with others.

And I like that. A lot.

Actually, rj, it's people that are used to having their news verified before having somebody just spouting off. If that means that you think that Republicans are the ones who demand verified news sources and the Democrats are not.....then you're telling us something right there.

As you can see....just popping off can be very damaging to somebody. I would imagine, too, in a public forum like this that it could be a matter of liable since a person's reputation and livelihood is at stake.

Hi Pegasus, I got Steve's book on the autofocus system about a year ago and liked it so much I printed and bound it so I'd have a copy with me when/if I don't have access to my PDF copy. Take care & ...

Hi Steve,
Many thanks for the feedback. Based on it, I've already been checking for prices at the "regulars" like B&H, Adorama, etc. Thanks again. Take care & ...

Hi Group,

My everyday camera is a D750 that I use for illustrating books, articles and product photography. My backup and grab-and-run camera is a D7000. I'm looking at a D7500 to replace it and have a question or two from those of you who are using it (I did check the search feature and didn't find answers).

1. Have any of you found a work-around for the lack of an AI indexing tab other than shoot full manual?

2. If full manual is the ONLY option, does the through-the-view-finder light meter work or do you have to use a hand held meter? It seems to me is should function but I'm just not sure what part the "tab" has to do with that process.

3. I'd like to pair the D7500 with a Tamron 150-600 G2 to add BIF shots to my inventory of photographs. Are any of you using this lens-camera combination (or similar) for BIF, etc.?

4. I'm thinking the 3 less mp will be more than offset by the higher ISO and Expeed 5 processor over a D7200 or ??? Your thoughts please?

Thanks in advance for your feedback. Take care & ...

I am using the D7500 camera and I really like the image quality and focusing system, size and weight. When everyone was naysaying the camera Steve Perry gave it a good review which influenced me to buy it. And unfortunately that's all I can answer of your questions since I primarily use the very fine AF-P 70-300 f 4.5-5.6 mm lens. I'm curious though- why do you prefer Al lenses?
