These birds are bred on large areas of heather covered moorland for game shooting. Given that when someone points something at them they are normally about to be blasted with birdshot it appeared remarkably unconcerned when I raised the camera to my eye. The males have these strikingly prominent eyebrow wattles.

I am pleased that you liked this shot. They don't normally sit like that as you approach them. I would still rather have been doing Burrowing Owls on Marco Island!!
