You are a fucking asshole. I followed orders, came home and was spit on, called a baby k**ler, and had PTSD for several years, really messed up my life until after years of counseling I regained so self respect and adjusted my life. It’s obvious you have never experienced anything like that so you really need to keep your mouth shut.
Have a nice day fuckhead.
You may call me a ‘fucking asshole’ and ‘fuckhead’ all you wish. I feel no guilt or anamosity for your words, and if it soothes you and your feelings toward me, be my guest.
I realize you were trained, equipped, supported and ordered to do what you did, and you did it in good faith that it was necessary.
The war in Vietnam k**led somewhere between 625 thousand and two million civilians on both sides. It began with small contingents of troops in a theater unimportant to us and ended with LBJ lying and misleading the nation, trapped and unable to get out ‘with honor,’ and Nixon secretly encouraging the other side to hold out until he was elected so they could get a better deal, hoping the continuing war would help get him elected, which it did.
The result in our loss is that Americans selling Chinese cell phones in Vietnam are at a disadvantage to the Chinese selling Chinese cell phones there. That’s about all.
I see an estimate that our war in Iraq has k**led 165,000 civilians, and the total in the Middle East is much, much higher.
I have not the slightest idea why we were lied into war in the Middle East, save for substantial profit for Republicans—remember US civilians couldn’t work in Iraq during the war without declaring themselves actual Republicans who v**ed Republican in the previous e******n.
On 9/11 some 3000 Americans were k**led and we went to war against Iraq and Afghanistan, and generally against 1.4 billion Muslims worldwide, when the attack was not from Iraq nor from Afghanistan, but seems to have come from Saudi Arabia upon which not a single American bomb has fallen.
And the Middle East war, projected to last perhaps six weeks to three months, certainly as Don Rumsfeld said ‘not six months,’ has now lasted a generation with no end insight, and has broadened into, I believe I remember, 78 differing locations.
There seems to be no idea what victory in the Middle East is, or what it would look like if we stumbled on to it.
I hope you feel better after my abrasive post but I point out that your experience left you judgmental and narrow-minded, with little insight and less compassion, and that’s a lesson in failure for all of us.
