If you would like a more civilised environment to post your queries in you could try the new section "Advice from the Pros". You can access it at the bottom of the extended Home page (you extend the Home page by clicking on "All Sections"), or by clicking HERE.

..except look at who is managing it...

Tommy - I agree in general, but when a pugnacious jerk posts an antagonistic response to me or others who are simply trying to help the OP, I see nothing at all wrong with responding in kind (or in ‘not-so-kind’). Standing my ground.

The only thing wrong with that is you are taking the thread further off topic, for your own satisfaction. You could always respond by private message and let the rest of the folks ignore the antagonist, who is probably hoping for a confrontation, and continue on.

The problem here is that you lower yourself to their level. If everyone would ignore them, they will vanish.

That is just what happens when a forum is not moderated. The a$$holes can be themselves. Nothing you can about it, except accept it or join a different forum.

Impunity?!?!
Seems rampant right now. We've got the green light from the highest levels!
Proud times we're in!!! LoL

His bark is worse than his bite. From what I've seen his terseness is limited to those who aren't giving good advice, or who aren't following clearly marked out guidelines (for example, posting for critique in the Photo Analysis section). He should make a good moderator, leaving the mentors to get on with answering queries.

I don’t think that you have looked enough. His type wouldn’t last 2 days on any of the moderated photo forums I frequent. One of the worst personalities that I have encountered. He is as bad as WR was, but thankfully, Winterrose was banned.

If it worries you, he is limiting his role to moderator, leaving the responding to carefully selected mentors (chosen for their civility as much as their knowledge and/or experience).

I don’t think that any of the forums that he has started ever lasted. Plus I would never participate anyway in anything that he is part of. Have you seen his list of people that he has on his ignore list? Who does that?

Sorry, I don’t care for narcissistic personalities.

In that case don't go there. He's trying to create an alternative to the free-for-all that the Main Photography section is for people wanting to post queries in a civil environment that generates reliable answers.

Perhaps "he who walks on s--t" is the new owner, which justifies his getting away with what he is doing. The timing is rather suspicious.
