Sadly, I have noticed an increasing animosity and snarkiness in this forum. It is particularly evident when I see a number of new OP's to the site practically beg not to get flamed for asking a (perhaps) simple question to the experts on here but maybe not so simple to a newbie, of which we have all been one. If you have a constructive comment to add (and there are dozens every day from some extremely talented and knowledgable photographers) then chime in! But if all you want to do is beat up the new kid for asking about the sweet 16 or the golden triangle or the spots on their images, please do everyone a favor and head to Facebook. You can flame and snark to your heart's content and still post your pictures!

That is just what happens when a forum is not moderated. The a$$holes can be themselves. Nothing you can about it, except accept it or join a different forum.

Tommy - I agree in general, but when a pugnacious jerk posts an antagonistic response to me or others who are simply trying to help the OP, I see nothing at all wrong with responding in kind (or in ‘not-so-kind’). Standing my ground.

I believe it to be a sign of the times. After watching the latest Star Wars movie, and seeing several people throw hissy fits - and throw other things as well, I went back and watched the first star wars movie. In 1978, the characters were polite. Lia hated the emperor with a passion, but she had respect for him, Darth Vader and Obewan were enemies, but they each showed respect to the other. Not so today. The members of the dark side threw at least three violent fits where they threw thing, broke things and yelled at other people.
I reject these behavioral changes and refuse to allow them to control my life. If I like or dislike the creation of others - here or anywhere - I will comment on the creation not the creator, and I will provide reason for my comments and suggestions for improvement. I have not and will never block another member for anything they have said.

You hit the nail on the head. I know of a group that one member constantly invades, starts or tries to start arguments, calls people hypocrites, etc. I have complained to Admin and sinatraman who began the group. I don't believe Admin really cares who says what unless its really bad like grossly swearing, etc. UHH really has helped many photographers on all levels but the management of the groups is sorely lacking. Admin indeed!

Yup, agree with that. Word was the admin of both these sites sold them, so no moderation. I can understand the reasoning, just sorry so many people are becoming more and more uncivilized.
