The birds are very comfortable in the rookery and you can get quite lose to them from the boardwalk.
During the peak of the breeding season it gets really crowded with birds and photographers. The best time to come is mid-week, early enough to get ahead of the school kids.
Now that you have added the pics of the Egret and Spoonbills, I had to comment again. The shot of the Egret is beautiful and so sharp. The Spoonbills are always a treat. Pretending to sleep while watching you. I visited Merritt Island last week and was lucky enough to see a few Spoonbills. No Egrets this time though.
