I rode down to the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge today. Here are a few captures. A couple of Herons and a Roseate Spoonbill. These were shot in Shutter Priority, at 1/3000 F 5.6 and the first at ISO 500 the other 2 at ISO 1100. Please check out the download, as the color in the thumbnail is washed out.

Great set Jan. I landed here in Daytona late last week and I'm planning on Merritt Island next Tuesday for some wildlife shooting and hopefully the Falcon Heavy launch. Any suggestions on locations in the park would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks Swamp-Cork. These were taken on the Black Point Wildlife Drive. It is a little over an hour South of me and well worth the trip.

Doc, these were taken on the Black Point Wildlife Drive. It is not a walking trail, but there are a few other places where you can park and walk. There is a small fee which helps to maintain the trail which took a beating from Irma, but it is well worth it. It is only one lane but there are several scenic pull-overs which snake through the Drive. They used to close off access when there was a Shuttle on the pad, but I am not sure if they will do that for the Falcon Heavy launch.

When I posted these, I noticed that the thumbnail did not look like the download. It looked washed out. A very helpful fellow hogger told me that the reason was that the image had to be saved in sRGB for the thumbnail to look like the original. I have taken that advice and this image was saved in sRGB format.

I wouldn't expect access past the causeway or the drawbridge launch day. New, Very large rocket test flight so safety is a concern. Would expect LOTS of people.

You are probably right about that. There are better places to watch the launch in Titusville. No matter where you pick to watch the launch, it is going to be hard to get out of there because of heavy traffic.
