Didn't Winny the Poo do something like that only with honey?
I don't like them either. My feeders, therefore, are squirrel proof.

I had this feeder for ten years and I had nothing like this until now.
Yep. They can be cuties at times. And pests the rest of the time. The most acrobatic little creatures I've ever seen. The things they can do to get to food is amazing. And they succeed most of the time. They obliterated my friend's backyard fruit tree. He's still trying to figure how to stop them without harming them. One of them told a buddy, and now there are two of them eating from his tree. No bird feeders are present.. it's against the law to kill them in our community. Rats are different. They can be killed.

If it's against the law for you to eradicate them, why not tie up a dog to the pole that just might?

Not in the UK, they are classed as vermin (tree rats) and there are several schemes to eradicate them.

Yes tom, Leicaflex is right. Grey Squirrels are classed as vermin over here, they were introduced from America and quickly overrun our Red Squirrel population (mainly through disease). There are now far too many to eradicate all of them, but there are pockets of Red Squirrels left, and every means is used to protect from the Grey Squirrel.
Often times referred to as, "Nature's Speedbumps".

I used to hate them. Now I shoot them with a pellet rifle (it's quiet). Over 300 in the last four years. And they taste pretty good too.
