Subtle as always. There are a lot of digital shooters that have no clue about PP either, the OP's ignorance on that subject aside. Sometimes people are resistant to change, sometimes it's fear of the unknown, sometimes it's an outlay of money. For the OP it may be all these things. But for some, there is a certain magic in film that digital just does not create. But that's mostly for those who develop their own images or take them to a high quality lab. Taking your film to Walgreens or Kmart to be developed is not going to provide that magic.

If an digital camera is not a electricity item, what is it? I understand how to work with an digital camera, My sister has four of them in this house. Yes, digital cameras are great if one needs a picture now. Also great for someone who does not want think when taking pictures, let the camera do everything. Just point.
Also one does not have to deal with film. Which can be a pain in the ass putting film in a camera, try a Leica and you understand what I am talking about. To me that no problem. There is something about working with a film camera I don't find working with digital camera. Can't explain it.

As much as I like using film I don't think your altitude toward digital is correct. You can just point and shoot a film camera just as you can make all the adjustments on a digital camera and more.

If you think editing in a traditional darkroom is easier than working on digital images on a computer, then you really don't have much clue what it's like to work in a real darkroom.

LOTS of digital shooters dont have a clue. In fact LOTS here. But i bet the OP is craping down digital for my previously mentioned reasons. The way he talks alone makes me think the guy dont know a lot about photography. Shooting film does not qualifies you as knowledgable. Lets clarify those delusions right now. So you agree about his "point and shoot" absurdity?

Like hand cranked automobiles, whalebone corsets, and cathode ray televisions, film cameras are obsolete. But as my father used to say, whatever turns your crank.

If you just point and shoot there is no skill in either medium film or digital.

This forum probably wouldn't exist if that is what people here want.

Not obsolete - just a different tool to produce a photograph with different attributes. Film, chemicals and paper are readily available. There are lots of digital photographers that also shoot film. Some, including myself, enjoy the look of a silver based print and the process to create it

Film still has its place. Agreed Trix.

Film cameras: R.I.P. Every day I am looking on UHH for information about film cameras. I not finding any information on film cameras. Oh yes , people will reply saying their have film cameras and then go back writing about their digital cameras. I hope I not the only one who like using film camera and could give a dam about digital cameras. I find nuts is reading about someone who pay $2,000 for XYZ digital camera and pay $1,000 for a lens to fit on the camera. Knowing that the camera is none more than a electricity item that will be obsolete by year's end. Yes, there is film cameras that will cost $3,000 with lens. But you known that you can get your $3,000 back. Can one said the same for digital camera? How about set a part of UHH just for film cameras.

I use film cameras exclusively. Don’t even own a digital.

When digital cameras became good, I switched from film. Yes, digital cameras are expensive, but so were film cameras. Digital cameras don't become any more obsolete than film cameras. They get better, so we upgrade. As for the value of film cameras, there really isn't any. I've sold Nikon, Pentax, and Miranda film cameras for peanuts, but I've gotten close to what I paid for digital cameras I sold on ebay. One big advantage of digital is not having to buy, stock, change, and develop film. I'd no more go back to shooting film than I'd buy a car that needed a crank to get it started.

With any luck, you will be able to buy this box camera soon.
