I have constantly been attacked in the past for putting up survey-like questions, to which my answer has always been - I don't DO surveys. But, this one is different. Am hereby admitting - this IS a survey question, as I am interested to know how many of you make this change. Also want to know - do you make this change for cosmetic reasons, only - or do you choose to make it for more practical considerations. Also, if you would actually indicate what you switch to, that'd be a great help!

I use the Peak Design Slide Strap, for me its comfort. I also don't like the fact that the straps that came with my bodies scream Nikon. I like the subdued black. Plus they have added in extra attachment straps so I have a few extra besides the ones mounted on my bodies.

I have a really old plain denim-like 2" wide strap with clips that attach to D-rings. I like the ability to remove or attach the strap, quickly. Of course with the new camera I had to attach D-rings used on the old film camera. (I did this as soon as I got the new camera.) So far I've only been able to find one other strap like this (at B&H), in case i need a replacement some year.

Actually the so called attacks seem to be more concerned with the misinformation you often spread. The fact that many who disagree with you are added to your Ignore List when you are challenged may have precipitated some dissatisfaction.

Hi Chris,
I am new here so I don't know who attacked you but here my answer. My Nikon F3HP didn't come with a neck strap and although I know some Nikon F5 came with neck strap my didn't although I bought both of them new. So I use the Nikon AN-4Y strap which is narrow only 1" wide and made out of yellow nylon. So what do you use Chris may I ask?

I don’t use original straps at all. It is a matter of comfort. I use Op/Tech straps that totally avoid neck strain. I add one extender to each strap making it just right to use as a cross body shoulder strap. Very comfortable even with a heavy lens/body combo.

That's exactly the reason I chose to buy one of those Capturing Couture (Navaho) straps for my Sony alpha a77 II ... the strap on that thing yelled out SONY in huge letters all the way along ... put up with it for a while ... but it made me feel very self-conscious ... the earlier a77 is a much more subdued design ... just reads Sony horizontally at one end and a77 horizontally at the other end - on the leather ... wish they'd done the later one the same way ... but, oh, no - they had to go garish on me !!!!

I shall look at your Peak Design slide strap ... is that in leather or canvas, Valsmere?

Does it allow easy on/off and exchange to another camera - or is it just affixed to one?

The Pentax K-S1 ... was available in a blue denim version ... almost bought it, too ...

Hi, D ... don't worry about the attack thing ... I've got that pretty much under control, now ....

I just mentioned on another post - I bought the Capturing Couture Navaho for my Sony alpha a77II, to replace the garish strap that came with it ... don't mind the Sony and a77 designations on the leather part of the earlier model - but the SONY a77 II in large letters all along the canvas of the later one really got my goat, I'll tell you, D ....

That's the only time I've ever done that, actually - all of the others have the original straps ... Canon ones are black with Canon in silver and a red edging - really subdued and tasteful ... Pentax does a similar thing ... Nikon Prosumer models use that hideous yellow on black thing which just cries out for replacement .... but I don't use those two that much, anyway ... I usually use the D5300 and D5500 (and D3200) all of which I bought in red - and they came with dark red - almost cranberry straps ... with which I have absolutely no problem ... Nikon is in a dingy white embedded on top ... that's just fine!

Dave - there is NO misinformation there. It is as I have stated. It can also be read elsewhere the information is correct as I know it, and as it pertains to the lenses I buy and use. Also, I only add people to my ignore list who become rude and aggressive. I don't need to deal with that kind of behavior. Okay?

Yes, and so I see, Richard ... my, oh, my ... that is pretty wide at the back, there, isn't it?

Studded, too .... does that help with the extra weight?

Just helps with stopping the camera sliding off when carrying the camera on your shoulder.
