Where's the s**thole?

When you come from a country where 20% of the people DON'T live in poverty and 1 in 6 go to bed with a full belly, those odds don't sound too bad

I know everything has a simple answer. Maybe not an easy answer....and that’s where the rub comes in....it’s not fun or easy to do the right thing. It’s a lot easier to say it’s someone else’s fault or someone else’s problem. Getting my car and my life smashed by some careless woman has nothing to do with that. And you’re putting words in my mouth again. When did I ever say that a life means nothing unless in the womb? I’ll save toy the time of looking it up....the answer is never.

Are you confusing my work ethic (and the fact that I expect others to work to fend for themselves) with a lack of compassion, for not “caring”? I donate at least 20% of my income to appropriate charities (whose donations go to those that are the intended recipients). I’d rather I determine where my money goes than allow the government to do it for me.
I know everything has a simple answer. Maybe not a... (show quote)

....Are you sure the Clinton Foundation couldn't do a better job than you with your donations.....no doubt there must be simple answers to all questions.

"How about if you don’t want to die, then don’t do drugs. Solved."

Those do not sound like the words of a compassionate person.

I have no intent to put words in your mouth.

Perhaps they don’t sound compassionate to you. What if your idea of compassion made things worse for the druggie? What if reaching their bottom was the only thing that would make them face their addiction? What if your compassion only served to prolong their suffering? What if your answer is not the one that will fix the problem, but instead exacerbate it?

It really is that simple....if you don’t want to die then don’t do drugs. An addict in the depths of addiction doesn’t understand or even want to hear compassion. They’ve either decided that they need to quit or die....or they’re looking for their next high and you can’t chage that, but you can prolong it by condoning it in the name of compassion.

Sounds rough? It should, because it is. Sometimes the only way out of a hellhole is to start from the bottom.
