Can't figure out how to get what I want! This isn't it.

gosh!! I did a million different things, never comes out the same, pen tool, brushes, filters, textures. Just experiment no certain way. Sorry. Just trial and error

I think this might get you what you want. This is a YouTube on how to do it and he goes slow enough for one to follow.

On the last step if you want to get rid of any grey areas you can just paint them out with a white brush. If you decide to do this do it on a layer it would be non destructive and you can add or subtract your painting.

Thank you so much, Jim. This is pretty close to what I envisioned. I'll check out the video as I recover from the flu.
