This was well on its way so maybe someone finally realized that it was a hazard and finished it off. The other possibility could be that the town that it was on the edge of told them to.

We will probably never know.

Every time I see an old building like that, I think what stories it could tell if only the walls could talk.

I agree completely. Old buildings always have stories to tell. It’s unfortunate that we live in an area where it is not uncommon for people to let things come unglued like that but there are also a lot of manufactured homes in close proximity to perfectly fixable houses. I’m sure there are different stories there too.
