Kings of Bait and Switch. As others will say, if it is too good to be true, it probably is.

Yes my previous dealing was just that bate and switch. Not sure about now.

What ever you do, use PayPal to CMA.

I get the sense you are confusing this shlock shop with a different company called 47th St Photo (named after the fact that back in the day there were a gaggle of photo stores in the 'photo district', which was on 32nd-33rd streets around Herald Square and 47th St photo was a small cluttered - and wonderful! - place on 47th street in the diamond district) in Manhattan.

47th St Photo is long gone (perhaps evolving into B&H?) but the scum wads who named their operation 42nd Street Photo are relying on this confusion to draw in suckers.

Consider saving money by buying factory refurbished bodies and lenses. Nikon USA and Cameta Camera are two great sources if they have product in stock. I have never has a problem with factory refurbished camera equipment. Cameta Camera adds to Nikon’s 90 day warranty to take it out to a year. I have never received anything that did not look “as new”. My D7200 came with 15 clicks on the shutter.

I am just getting back into photography after several years and looking at Nikon 3400. 42 Street has best price I can find, anyone have any dealings with them? Reviews I have read are good.

You have read good reviews of 42nd Street photo? From where? 42nd Street photo is a bait-and-switch operation and any Nikon cameras you buy from them will not have a Nikon USA warranty which means in the event you need repair from Nikon they won't touch the camera.

I have used 42nd street once and never again. Tried to bait and switch and sell grey market with an early Panasonic mirrorless when they were a hot item and scarce. I cancelled the order. They sent it anyway. I refused to accept it, sent it back and cancelled the charge with my credit card. I almost always use B&H now, but I have had good luck with Crutchfields, Adorama, Abe’s of Maine and Amazon. BTW, I think Abe’s is now totally located in New Jersey.

Scary stuff! Thanks for the warning. I will look at other sites. Was wanting a Nikon 3400 kit, but with a 70-300 VR instead of the standard that comes with the kit, 42Street has just the body and 18-55 and advertise a great price on the VR zoom

You can get a Nikon D3400 body (ONLY) from any of the venders listed.. 42nd street has been on the bad boy list for several years.. If you called Nikon Support they would tell you that 42nd Street Photo is NOT on their list of AUTHORIZED Nikon dealers which means that if you purchase from them, you will NOT get authorized Nikon service.

Yes 42nd street hasn't been a good retailer since back in the 1970's when they had some good prices. Stay away from them now. Too much grey market stuff and shorted kits. The old 47th street photos was great back in the day. Nowadays, B&H, Adorama, Amazon, Best Buy, Roberts, Allens Camera, and Abes of Maine are all reputable and best on prices. (from a pro shooter of four decades who has bought from all of these retailers). For the best quality used gear, Allens Camera (Levittown, Pa. ,outside Philadelphia) has the best selection of top quality, pristine used gear at good prices, and they stand behind all the gear they sell, new and used. I once saw Adorama folks coming there to buy up a host of Allen's top used gear. They will match any B&H or Adorama prices on new gear. They are the best kept secret in national camera stores. Check out their website. They are the favorite camera store of Jared Polin (Froknows Photo on youtube), and they are the favorite store of many pros like myself.
