Since I could not sleep (been up since 3:30 am) I'll go ahead and post then go make a fresh pot of coffee...or maybe not - the smell of coffee brewing always wakes everyone up...maybe I'll roll down to the donut shop and get a cup..... so here are my "freestyle" shots for the day.

My homage to the mass transit - bumper to bumper southbound traffic out of Las Vegas, glad I'm going the other way!

Here are a couple of IPhone pics of the San Diego AquaBus and AquaLink operation. Pretty unique in transit. The last one is arrival day of some new baby Gillig buses as work. They are built in Hayward, CA, near SF.

I can see why you asked of the names orgin. Names are neat. My surname is 'Givan'. How do you pronounce that? Easy, as in the name was 'given' to me by my husband. Now its time to drive out to my favourite Milkweed patch to look for Monarch buttertflies.

Lucky shot...I just landed and heard this guy on the radio was going to make a fast pass down the runway...so I jumped out of the airplane,picked up the camera as he was flying by and took the shot !!!

I think this might be a butterfly day. First sighting this morning was this folded up butterfly on a tree trunk in our yard. I think it might be a Red Admiral. It is definitely not a Quebecois butterfly. How do I know? It appears to be shy and wouldn't display its undersides ( underwear) as some Quebecois critters have been known to do. Secondly , a picture of a fully open Red Admiral butterfly. And thirdly we have just returned from a Milkweed patch, a rather frustrating experience. The Monarch Butterflies there just fly by most of the time, seldom landing. But I did get a photo of one at a distance on a milkweed blossom.
