Yes, Az ... NOW that all plugs are made that way (with one broad pin, and one narrow pin) that can no longer happen. But it wasn't ALWAYS that way. Plugs were made with identical sized pins on both sides until fairly recently. And, judging from your tale of woe, it's not like this happened to you, YESTERDAY - now, is it?
I've no intention of buying a third party charger. I see no need for it. But, the third party batteries (Watson, Power2000, et al) are designed to be charged in the original charger which was packed with the camera. If that's how you handle your charging needs, there should be no problem.

Check the plugs on your Nikon charger. I guess they did not get your memo on broad and narrow. Send me the photo of your broad/narrow configuration on your Nikon charger. With the exception of my brief problem with the Watson dual charger, which I thought would be a nice feature, all of my charging is done Nikon. Watson has quite a selection of chargers for every battery made, with interchangeable plates. Sounds to me like they want their batteries charged with their chargers. Show me documentation where Watson encourages you to charge their battery with original camera chargers. Check the Watson catalog for their arsenal of chargers. I think you are now talking through your hat. I personally have better things to do than engage you and your Fake News.
