Udemy has a very good education series on Affinity Photo at a reasonable cost so does Lydia https://www.lynda.com/search?q=Affinity+Photo I have taken the Udemy course on Affinity Photo and the only negative is the educator is British so you have (in the USA) to get by his accent.

I am not too sure how many people really know much about Affinity Photo, unless they are or were MAC users. I tried Photoshop Elements and was not happy with that, same with Pixemator and was really looking at going to the Adobe Photoshop setup, until they decided to rent the software month to month. That moved me over to Affinity Photo and I made the purchase thinking I could slip right into it with the on line tutorials, etc. Not a simple fit as tutorials seem to assume you knew more about AP than was being said in the "how to" videos. Myself, and others, kept asking for some type of resource book to help us gain knowledge and proficiency with the program. AP just released a really good hardbound workbook containing many projects that you can work through and really get a grip on what you are doing and what the software can do. Really recommend the workbook if you are new to AP, or are struggling with aspects of the software. AP does not yet have a DAM, so you either have to create your own "library" or use some other application for a DAM. Supposedly, AP is working on a Dam for release, in the future, and based on how the workbook came out, that could be 1+ year(s). At any rate, I am happy with AP, the price is more than fair for what you get and it is updated on a frequent basis. Their support is very good and the online forum is supported by both endusers and AP staff for quick answers and problem resolution. Hope this helps in your decision process.

I don't understand what you are saying, Affinity Photo is not a plug-in to Photoshop and cost $50 compared to Photoshop CC subscription at $120/year or are you talking about Tun-it?

Please reread my post. I stated that the "plugin" referred to by the poster is $129 US dollars.

At the top of the page you will find "search" type in Affinity and you will find that many in UHH do know about Affinity.

Ok, you were talking about Tun-It not Affinity Photo, I wasn't clear on that, but I looked up the price of Tun-It and it matches the $129. I assumed that you originally meant Affinity Photo is a plug-in.

At least as of yesterday Affinity was on a "holiday sale" on their website for $39.99, $10 off. I purchased it as I was especially interested in it's photo merge (or stacking) feature which was the first thing I tried and it worked beautifully. I think this program is a terrific bargain at this price and that one feature alone makes it worth it to me.

Thank you. I was thinking that $129 for a single plugin for a $50 software program would be a bit on the obnoxious side. If Tun-It were included in a bundled package with several other plugins, different story.

I believe Nic plug-in and definitely Topaz has the same type of plug-in for free or less money.

I'm considering switching from the Mac program Aperture (no longer supported) to the $50 Affinity program. I'm never going to be a "professional", more an "enthusiast" and I suspect Affinity will meet my needs for the next 10 years. I have previously purchased a plug in called "Toon-It" which I really like. Does anyone know if "Toon-It" will interface with Affinity? Thank you in advance with any information you may provide.

Never heard of Toon-It, but Googled it and it says it is available for Adobe products. Does not mention any other photo processing software.

Affinity Photo does have the "Affinity Photo Workbook" available which comes with download links to resources to use with the book. I bought it on the Affinity site and I believe it was about $50. It is a very good book and helps a lot when learning to use Affinity Photo.

Small correction - when I said "photo merge" above I meant "focus merge."

The $50 for the book seems steep when the price of the actual software is significantly less. I wonder if a Dummies manual for it will be done sometime in the future.

This is a site of many (224) short tutorials on how to use Affinity. Most tutorials are single subject, like focus stacking, sky replacement, split toning, RAW processing, etc. These are narrated by a guy from Australia, easy to understand. All for free. You can check them out to see if this app. would be for you without having to download it.

Thanks for posting that - I had noticed on the Affinity an option to use vimeo for their tutorials. I also noted this statement on the vimeo website "Affinity Photo is the fastest, smoothest, most precise image editing software for Mac!" I know Affinity was first made for Macs and only later for windows, which I have. I wonder that since these tutorials were created for Macs if there might be some problems at times for windows users? Or have they made modifications in the tutorials so they completely fit windows use? I learn much better from reading than watching videos and wish for a less expensive, comprehensive user manual for Affinity as are numerous for the Adobe products.

Mike, lousy weather here so I have been using Affinity all morning on my notebook PC . From within the program, there is an extensive help menu with written instructions. I have been using Affinity for about 3 months. Some knowledge of post processing makes the learning much easier but I have found the videos to be very helpful. I normally access them from the Affinity website where the links are arranged in a way that makes them easy to work through. I have probably used at least 60% of the videos (several more than once) and didn't have any trouble with the fact that most were done with a Mac in mind. The differences are not really significant. I am very happy with Affinity.

Prior to Affinity I had used Nikon Capture NX2 and Photoshop Elements. Affinity is far more capable than either of those. The learning curve was a little frustrating for the first week or two but now I just jump in an go. I still have a lot to learn but it is a pleasure to work with.

Thanks Carol, that's encouraging. I have also been using Elements and have found it difficult to get beyond the basics. I had difficulty with layers and hope that will be easier in Affinity. My first try with Affinity was to focus merge three images and I was astonished how easy that was.

Thanks again and I hope that terrible central Florida weather gets better (isn't that an oxymoron for Florida - it was 6 degrees here in SE Idaho last night and is all the way up to 14 now but it's clear, sunny, beautiful, and very photogenic). Thanks again and happy shooting this year.
