I am sure that by now most have heard about our despicable First Lady "ORDERING" the removal of a historic tree at the White House. If not if you google Melania Trump orders removal of historic tree you will find an onslaught of headlines all aimed at making Ms Trump look bad. It is just the way the media is in this country and it is just one more example that these reporters are not worth the energy it takes to read the articles that they report.

Here is what actually happened.

"'F**e News' Hits Melania With Blame for Removal of Dying Tree

Newsweek came under heavy fire Tuesday for a misleading headline that appeared to blame first lady Melania Trump for arbitrarily ordering the removal of a 200-year-old tree on the White House lawn.

In t***h, it was the U.S. National Arboretum that recommended the historic Jackson Magnolia be removed — and quickly — because it was too damaged and decayed to safely remain in place, CNN reported. "Mrs. Trump personally reviewed the reports from the United States National Arboretum and spoke at length with her staff about exploring every option before making the decision to remove a portion of the Magnolia tree," Trump's communications director, Stephanie Grisham, told CNN.

"After reviewing the reports, she trusted that every effort had been made to preserve the historic tree and was concerned about the safety of visitors and members of the press who are often standing right in front of the tree during Marine One lifts."

Twitter posters were outraged at the suggestion the popular first lady was ruthlessly whacking a historic tree.

They also saved seeds and cuttings from the tree and plan on planting another one near the one that is being taken down. Not sure, but I wouldn't be surprised if that was Melania's idea.

I wouldn’t be surprised if it was her idea. Personally I think she’s doing well as a First Lady. Who ever thought of saving seeds and cuttings deserves credit.

The cuttings are something like ten years old, so I'd kinda be surprised! :)

Not to belabor the point but I only learned about this apparent controversy because of the outrage of the right. Never heard a word from the outrageous left.

{shrug} it’s a big nothing burger as far as I can tell

Happy New Year to all

She'll be OK as long as she stays away from anything Bolshie like nutrition in schools.

Dirt posts so many links that I can’t track them all (and I’m retired!) I must have skipped that one.

I only learned of it from Blurrey’s post earlier this evening.

Thanks and Happy New Year as well

I read a couple articles about this tree, what's the big deal? I haven't seen anyone complaining about it.

It's the headlines that hit a couple of days ago, splashed all over the internet, many people don't take the time to read the story and just see the headlines, again its the media in a very subtle way putting anyone Trump in the worst possible light.

You imply a full sentence. Did you read what you have written? Too bad, you did not stay in school. That's sad.

A woodwork forum I go to is trying to get a few lumps of that tree for the members. Sadly, most of the tree is going to the Double Happy Tie Factory in China to be made into toothpicks. Who saw that one coming?
