If not if you google Melania Trump orders removal of historic tree you will find an onslaught of headlines all aimed at making Ms Trump look bad. It is just the way the media is in this country and it is just one more example that these reporters are not worth the energy it takes to read the articles that they report.
Here is what actually happened.
"'F**e News' Hits Melania With Blame for Removal of Dying Tree

Newsweek came under heavy fire Tuesday for a misleading headline that appeared to blame first lady Melania Trump for arbitrarily ordering the removal of a 200-year-old tree on the White House lawn.
In t***h, it was the U.S. National Arboretum that recommended the historic Jackson Magnolia be removed — and quickly — because it was too damaged and decayed to safely remain in place, CNN reported. "Mrs. Trump personally reviewed the reports from the United States National Arboretum and spoke at length with her staff about exploring every option before making the decision to remove a portion of the Magnolia tree," Trump's communications director, Stephanie Grisham, told CNN.
"After reviewing the reports, she trusted that every effort had been made to preserve the historic tree and was concerned about the safety of visitors and members of the press who are often standing right in front of the tree during Marine One lifts."
Twitter posters were outraged at the suggestion the popular first lady was ruthlessly whacking a historic tree.

Well, blurry, what did the headline say?
All I can find is hysteria from the right, not the liberal press.
Newsweek quote below is “updated,” so it may be ‘improved,’ but I see no reason for hysteria:
Washington (CNN)The south facade of the White House will undergo a dramatic change this week: the historic Jackson Magnolia, a tree that has been in place since the 1800s, is scheduled to be cut down and removed.
The enormous magnolia, one of three on the west side of the White House and the oldest on the White House grounds, extends from the ground floor, up past the front of the windows of the State Dining Room on the first floor and beyond the second-level executive residence. The tree has had a long and storied life, yet has now been deemed too damaged and decayed to remain in place.

Updated | The historic Jackson magnolia has been on the south facade of the White House since the 1800s—making it the oldest on the grounds. But Tuesday, Melania Trump reportedly made the decision to have it removed after tree specialists determined “the overall architecture and structure of the tree is greatly c*********d,” the report stated, according to CNN.
CNN obtained documents from specialists at the United States National Arboretum, which determined the magnolia tree must be removed. The tree is “completely dependent on artificial support,” the document read.
The document said, “Without the extensive cabling system, the tree would have fallen years ago. Presently, and very concerning, the cabling system is failing on the east trunk, as a cable has pulled through the very thin layer of wood that remains. It is difficult to predict when and how many more will fail.”
