After looking at the grill. I would now say that it is a 1949 or 50.
Agree. I think it’s a 1949.

I just received my February 2018 issue of Shutterbug Magazine, and noticed on page 73, that a nice B&W photo of a Chevy Car is listed as a 1954 model. It looks more like an earlier model to me. Am I wrong? Taken by a Graflex 22 camera.
Split windshield says 49 or 50 to me.
I agree not a53 or 54. From 49 to 52. I had a 54 and the 53 had the same body style.

I think it is a 1949 to 52 Chevy....in 1953 Chevy put in "wrap-around" windshield...no bar in the middle. I think it is a 1950, but definitely not a 1953 or 1954..my two cents

The photo is in an ad for a film scanning device. The vehicle is labeled as a 1954 Chevrolet photographed in 1958 using Kodak Plus-X 120 with a Graflex 22. UHH member “mas24” is asking whether the year of the Chevy is mis-identified.
I don't know the exact year (Ford fan) but that is between 49 and 52. the 53 and 54 were a new body style, kind of boxy.
its hard to find photos of all the old chevy's from that time but from what i could find it might be a 1950-53.

After my earlier postn of 51-53, I agree with other posters it is more than likely a 49-52. Bet one of my camera bodies on it!
after a bit of google search. I'll stick my neck out and say it's a '50. The 49 had verticals under the grill's horizontal bar. The 51 had different turn signal lights and the 52 had a one piece windshield
Eliminate any chances of a '52 Chev. The '52 grille had "teeth". While I was only 8 years old at the time, my family owned a '50 Chevy 2 door and the car pictured looks like it. Granted 49-50 Chevs were very similar, while the 51 looked somewhat similar, it had more refined body. The 53 and 54 were major departures, being very boxy as another poster has alluded to. I owned a 54 Deluxe at 16 years of age, which was my second car. Use Google, select Images, then in the search box put the year and make of the car you are interested in.

Maybe Shutterbug mag was mislead by the license plate. South Carolina, '54
at least to these old eyes it looks like 54
Unfortunately, we can't see the rear tail lights and trunk of the car to get a positive ID. One thing is certain. It is not a 1954 as stated on the magazine photo. I'm saying it is 1952 or earlier.
My Father had a 1954 and the grille was nothing like the one pictured. I'd say 49-52.

The 53 & 54 were totally distinct from the 49 - 52, then the 55 came along and set the auto world ablaze.

Yes, the grill for those two years had teeth in them.

Plus the body style was totally new.
Looks like the 1951 Chevrolet I got for graduation, but mine was blue.
