If shooting still life sounds OK. When shooting hockey you need to have your finger on the trigger all the time. Heat packs works for me....

I have about 15 different pairs in search of the "best" one, at least for me. I do like the AquaTek the best of the bunch. Happy Holidays to ALL!

...Under Armour ColdGear® Infrared Fleece 2.0 or Under Armour Elements 3.0 Gloves...and then slip the hot hands hand warmer packets inside the gloves (back of the hands where the blood veins are)...

Check out hunting mittens. They have a slit across the palm that allows you to slip a "trigger" finger out when needed.

I have hunting mittens and wear a thin liner glove under the mittens. That way, when my fingers are exposed, they still have some protection from the cold and I can manipulate the controls of my camera easily. This set-up will be used this next week in Yellowstone and I think it will make out very well there. Hand warmers will be along for some additional comfort.

BOO! I have to admit I was a little taken back initially but I'm contemplating getting a pair. Keeping your hands warm is priceless and makes things more enjoyable.

I've had a pair of mittens with a flap that folds onto the back of the hand to expose the fingers. Don't know where they were purchased, they were a gift. I'd try something like Plow and Hearth. Also, I'm going to try hand warmers inside because my hands got cold while out shooting today.

Check out your local Tack shop. There are many styles of riding gloves, some designed for using cell phones. they are thin enough that I can reach things in my pockets and are warm enough in most temps down to about 15 degrees or so. I used them today at 18 degrees. My current pair is not specifically for electronics but my Nikon D90 works well with these gloves on. I started using riding gloves several years ago for driving my car.

We're having a great year for Snowy Owls and I'm frequently out on the beaches at dawn with numb fingers. I've tried several combinations of liners and gloves that sort of work, i.e: liners under neoprene kayaking gloves, but they're all pretty clumsy when it comes to manipulating dials and buttons (shutter excepted). I'm just wondering if anyone out there has come across a good, super warm photographer friendly glove?

Look for a law enforcement supply company. They have gloves that allow the top of your trigger finger to be expose. Some allow you the option to place it back inside the glove while not affecting the rest of your fingers.

I bought a pair of Freehands a couple years ago. I sent them back because a pair of dress socks would have kept my hands warmer.

Check with B&H.
They just advertised some nice gloves that will let you expose the tips of the Index & Thumb for camera use.
My wife & I just ordered two pair.

Here is what I did with a pair of ski gloves (Hot Paws). I cut slits with an box cutter blade on the index finger(s) and thumb(s), right where the upper finger joints bend. It worked like a charm.
