Cameta has a pretty good return policy. You only pay shipping...both ways. No restocking fees, etc.

Also they extended the return period for items bought the month prior to Christmas to start the 30 day clock on 12/25.

Mine will be delivered after that so if it doesn't meet my expectations I'll send it back and get a new one.

Nikon wants $650 for a new D5600, and I don't see a new one on Cameta's site. Adorama is out of them too. The refurb is $519 with free shipping and no sales tax. So a much better deal than on the D7500.

(Plus, as I've elaborated elsewhere, the D5xxx meets my criteria better than any D7xxx)

I would go with the new one for the $50 buck difference. Mainly because you're looking at 0 clicks on the shutter vs. some number of clicks.....

I buy a lot of refurb computers. But I know how to rebuild and adjust computers. I don't know how to rebuild a lens and I'm leary of camera bodies I haven't worked on before. I vote for the group consensus. Get the new one. or at least make sure Nikon issues the warranty. Happy Hanukkah.

I agree with this. $50 is not enough of a difference IMHO to not get new. If it were a couple hundred then yes. For example, I bought a refurbished Canon 6D (from the Canon Store so it came with Canon Warranty). At the time, I saved around $300 over the price of new. If you pay the extra $50 you will have a camera that you know has never been abused and will have a full factory warranty.

If you buy a new camera with an Amex card the warrantee is extended further, a much better idea.

Hey guys I am going to purchase a Nikon D7200 one way or another. After a lot of pricing research I see Cameta has a refurbished at $749 with a 1 year warranty and a few other sites have new at about $800. The same body and accessories with the 1 year warranty. It's not so much the $50 savings, I would probably add a remote shutter release anyway, but why spend more for the same thing? Plus Cameta has been my go store for awhile. I have never bought a refurbished body before. I have bought 2 refurbished lenses from Cameta before with excellent results so what do you think? Thanks and Happy Holidays.

IMHO, a $50 savings is not enough to make it worthwhile to go refurbished. There is not much risk, but there is some. >Alan

Ladies, if you were to read every post, not just the initial one, you would know that the OP now is looking at the D750

So what? The title question applies there too.

Although I disagree with it the consensus seems to be that if the price difference is relatively small then most would opt for new. I haven’t detected a consensus what constitutes “small” but most opined $50 is in that category...at least for a multi-hundred dollar item.

I’ll know next week if my refurb decision was good or not.

But the price difference may not be as narrow as the d7200, so the clear choice is refurbed

Perhaps to some. That is why the question remains relevent.

e.g. https://www.adorama.com/inkd750g.html
