Mini Theme: A step back in time - Bunratty, Ireland.
First time travelers to Ireland expecting to find the thatched cottages and cobble stoned villages of John Wayne and Maureen O’Hara’s ‘The Quite Man’ will be somewhat disappointed. The Irish countryside is now lined with neat, prosperous, well cared for homes while many villages are choked with BMW’s and Mercedes.
However, visitors can step back a century or more at the village adjacent to Bunratty Castle in Co. Clare. The village is a collection of faithfully reconstructed or replicated cottages, houses, school and shops representing rural Ireland circa 1900. Some critics may find it a bit Disneyesque, but I was totally immersed by the buildings, objects and even the sounds and smells that brought me back to childhood visits to my Granny’s house.

Merry Christmas to all.
Excellent recording of this interesting place.
An excellent series to provide a taste of life in a different time and place! Your shots are well composed and interesting.

I enjoyed viewing these in download.
Wonderful series. Discovered that I'm about 1/3 Irish when I had my DNA done. Really surprised me.
Good set. Thanks for taking us there.
I think you captured the flavor of the place. Nice.

Excellent and interesting series.
Very lovely scenes....i love the whole set.
A really nice set. Well done.
We stayed in a great B&B there about 10 years ago. Bunratty is close to Shannon Airport so it's a convenient spot to begin/end a trip to the West of Ireland.
We enjoyed the Village, despite the Disney quality, and the Castle as well; although we chose to skip the Medieval Dinner.
"Dirty Nelly's" purports itself to be one of the oldest pubs in Ireland. It is touristy but we managed to get there on a night when there were no buses in the parking lot and were treated to some great music by a couple of locals in one of the side rooms. We're looking forward to another visit!
What a wonderful place, and you did a great job capturing it. Merry Christmas to you and your family as well.
Outstanding and thorough photos that really conveys a feeling of a small Irish town.
You captured great photos and a wonderful "mood"! Thanks for sharing.
