In the film days, a minute and a half transparency. I never scanned it to digital. Obviously done with tripod and cable release.

Handheld is 4 seconds. It didn't produce the feel I wanted. So I deleted it and shot four more at 2 seconds. They produced more of what I was looking for - the hussel and bussel in the Dusseldorf train station.

Oh, yes, WD ... you really caught the hustle and bustle, there - didn't you?

What was the matter with the earlier, and slower ones, now?

Not very long, probably about ten seconds - traffic at night.

And, how'd it turn out, Jerry?

This was 21 minutes. Not satisfied with it. Still working on night stuff.

Interesting, Bill ....

You managed to get the circular effect in the sky ... but it has not affected the building ....

How'd you manage that?

Why are you not happy with it?

I'm not a scientist or anything, but maybe the building wasn't in the sky...?

I'm not happy with the noise in the church and haven't been able to remove it in post short of doing one spot at a time which I don't have the tenacity for. I don't understand your question about affecting the building. The stars are trailed (show motion) because of the rotation of the earth and the stars not moving. The church rotated with the earth. I think this must have been what your question was about. The church is not very bright because it was a very dark night except for the stars and the glow of town lights in the background.

3 hours.

I regularly use exposures of 4-8 minutes in my work. Rarely do I use higher than 1/4 sec in making my images.

Oh, I see, Bill ... I'd assumed you'd used a fisheye - which would have affected the church ....

And, this is with a view camera, Kris?

How do you time it?

With a stopwatch?

Even though the the background was sharp at 4 seconds, the people were too stretched out and were difficult to recognize as people. And the point of view was wrong being at eye level. That is why I changed to 2 seconds, articulated the back view screen straight down, held the camera straight over my head, and composed and shot as best possible at an arm's length away. I would have liked to have taken more shots at different speeds, but I only had 5 minutes to shoot with from the time I pulled the camera out of the bag to the time it was repacked. We had a German / Austrian tour guide that gave us 35 minutes at the station. It was 15 minutes to find and use the restrooms, 15 minutes the find and buy some meds for my wife's cold, and 5 minutes to shoot with. Our guide was not waiting for anyone if he could help it. Definite not for someone just taking pictures.

No, This was my first 35MM camera, not a 6x7 or any other format.
