I suggest that the image posters title their images in a way that tells us if they are birds or flowers or whatever so we don't have to open a post if we are not interested in the subject matter.

It takes the experience of the repetitive and mundane for us to really appreciate the fresh and original.

Who is twisting your arm to look at the photos that you are tired of looking at, just go on to the next subject, easy stuff.

I can't believe how many posts there are on this subject. Talk about repetitive.

I certainly understand that many members seem to shoot the same thing over and over. However, for most of these Hogs by shooting the same thing, (ie., birds, flowers, parks, etc.) they seem to get better and better. I seems to me that they may shoot the same things because they like these things and I for one have seen some real growth in these Hogs.

I suppose we will have to wait 17 years to see this again?

Well I do hope that you realize that your posting on griping about repetitiveness is posted twice,,. I personally like to view other peoples moon pics, as a way to get an idea perhaps to improve my own. constructive criticism can be a very useful tool, criticism about seeing the same thing over and over ,well thats on you , don't look if your tired of the subject . Get out and find what YOU like, photograph it, process it , post it, pay attention to the critique and improve. It is notable that you have been a member here for a while now without posting a single pic, get out and try to find something that does not have a egret, blue heron, puppy dog, kitten , moon etc as a subject , and take a picture of it and post it for us all.
Well I do hope that you realize that your posting ... (show quote)

Love it.

We have all seen thousands of pictures of the moon or egrets or great blue herons. Are we supposed to continue to admire the same old same old. I would like to see, instead of a demonstration of competence with tired subjects, something new in the photo section. Am I the only one who feels this way?

If you see different people posting pics of blue herons, I don't think that has anything to do with same old, same old, because everyone is excited to got a shot of one, and everyone was shot in a different situation, at different times, etc. And they are all nice shots, different shots and presented in a different way. Now if one person shows the same thing over and over, only with slight differentiation, I can see you getting that feeling, but even then, there are differences in each shot that one has to look for and appreciate! Not every portrait, is shot the same way, one has to watch out for, maybe different lighting set-up, use of light, perspectives, etc., if they are shot by the same person and once you clearly see them, you can appreciate them! Just my 2 cents!

I'm tired of seeing all the hummingbirds, cardinals, and who knows what kind of other birds. Ditto for flowers. How about going to the closest zoo, taking photos of the ugliest animals there, and posting them.

I guess it all depends on perspective. I seldom look at the photo gallery, so am not concerned. Personally I like herons, especially when they hunt and catch gophers. Hate gophers!

This is a crappy photograph, I was just setting up with a manual focus 500mm lens, no tripod yet, entirely not ready. It's out of focus, the wrong shutter speed settings and so much more, but the heron caught, drowned, and then ate the gopher. Bad photograph, but a day of celebration. I was happier with second image below.

So, not very good photographs, but interesting moments for me.
