I have no problems with the FCS teams that find a way to play FBS teams and profit because of it. Go for it. My issue is with the Alabama's and other SEC and sometimes Big 10 schools that help build their resumes with the cupcake games. I was delighted as hell when Troy State beat LSU, when Appalachian State beat Michigan a few years ago. If the "Big Boys" are afraid to schedule other "Big Boys" out of conference, than that should be held against them during the playoff seeding. All SEC teams only play 8 conference games and schedule the Mercer's of the world. How chicken-s---t. Sorry, no respect. And if you want to know where I went to school, it is one of only 3 FBS teams that has NEVER scheduled or played an FCS school, at least in the modern times. Yea, I think we played Pamona and Little Sisters of the Poor sometime back in the late 1800"s. Every conference should be playing the same amount of in-conference games and have a balanced home and away schedule. How about a level playing field.

As a Bama grad 1969 and a nonplaying member of the football team, and having been to a lot of " Iron Bowls" you never know what to expect. I really don't see how they can not put Bama in the final 4, or just get rid of this stupid way of doing things, anyteam with 2 losses should not be considered For the national champion !!

You should play for and win your conference in order to be in the final 4. Alabama did neither of these. Still a very good team.

The point is Hawaii has to entice teams to travel across an ocean to play there. And Hawaii pays a lot of money for that to happen.

Yes they do. It's only fair to the visiting teams. I'll say again that costs and profits are shared in a conference. So a team visiting Hawaii is not shouldering the entire burden.

Again I say, Bama had a weak schedule. They played Mercer a week ago. This is true for most of the SEC, scheduling weak teams late in the season. I watch a lot of college football and Bama has not impressed me like many other teams.
If UGA beats Auburn, they are in. A

In a normal world you might be right. Do you think that every conference winner should go into a playoff. Unless my count is wrong there are 11 conferences in the NCAA. So we start with a playoff system. College football would stretch into May. Fine with me. It beats watching the NFL any day.

Bama a weak schedule? You gotta be kidding me. There is not an SEC team with a weak schedule. Auburn played Mercer. Does that mean they had a weak schedule. Put away your anti-SEC bias and look at the big picture.

there may be 11 conferences but I don't see at least half dozen being recognized by the 'committee' to be included in any playoff(s)

and don't forget for those supporting Ohio State; they played Army and UNLV.

Maybe it's because the conferences are "cupcake" conferences.

Here is alabama's schedule this year.
Florida State ranked 3rd at the time
Fresno State ????
Colorado State really? I lived in Fort Collins, CO and know about this team
Vanderbilt A football powerhouse in the SEC for decades. Of course, the most brilliant students attend.
Ole Miss: We (Ole Miss were creamed) See, I am not anti SEC. I am in fact an Ole Miss fan.Bama was making up for previous years' losses to Ole Miss.
A&M
Arkansas
TN Hmm all three schools fired their head coaches due to poor seasons.
LSU
MSU These last two were the only challenges on the schedule up until now.
Mercer. Mercer beat Duke in basketball a few years ago. That's their athletic history
Auburn. Well we know what happened.

You call that a tough schedule?

By the way, I am an SEC supporter, Georgia and Ole Miss are my teams.

While your analyzing schedules why don't you break down the Georgia and Ole Miss schedules. I lived in Denver for a little over a year and know the Fort Collins area. Beautiful country. I hope to head back that way some day. Vandy has always been the whipping post. They're an engineering school just like Ga. Tech and turn out stars in academics. Kentucky is about basketball. Texas A&M has struggled in the SEC just like Missouri. The SEC competition has gotten weaker but it runs in cycles. Every team sucks at some point and go through a rebuilding process. Every conference not just the SEC. My doctor is an Ole Miss grad and I try not to visit him during football season. I might be ordered to take a colonoscopy when Bama beats Ole Miss.

Wisconsin is undefeated. I agree they will be tested by Ohio State. Alabama was ranked #1 and undefeated until they met Auburn. Wisconsin could lose in a Big Ten Conference Championship game in Indiana. If that happens, coach Urban Meyer will protest he belongs in the top four? His claim will be that a Big Ten team cannot be denied a spot. He may be right. It's a ratings and money team with many followers. They don't have a 100,000 seat stadium in Columbus for nothing. TV ratings, fan base, and making money, all play into the decisions too.
