I'd suggest gaffers tape. I've had some ugly experiences with electrical tape when the adhesive starts to migrate.

Points well taken. Electrical tape is cheap. Why not? 🤔

Travel with nothing that can't be replaced.

A valuable personal property rider on homeowner's (or renter's) insurance can replace stolen equipment, but there's the problem of being left mid-trip without equipment and the sting of feeling violated. If traveling more, I would get a cable reinforced strap. (I have car insurance but still lock the doors.)

You're welcome to your opinion, and shooting style, as I am mine. My "Lost in Roma" shot was from about 7 feet. Would they have noticed me, being busy with their map? Probably not. But masking the bright white logo helped embolden me to get close to get the photo op I spotted.

Boy are you bitter with life. Also you are hyper PC. To me PC is BS. I take it you are developmentally delayed.
Get over your old codger uptightness. Or send it to the Attic.

It seems pretty silly to cover the logo. Most camera companies make everything from modestly-priced cameras to high-end gear. A thief is not likely to know the difference - they just know that a "big camera" might fetch some decent money from their fence or a sleazy pawn shop. When traveling I have a nondescript camera case.

Exactly. Covering the logo gives a false sense of security. An expensive camera looks expensive, with or without logo. And for the typical thief, if given the opportunity, even a $300 camera is worth the effort - easy money is easy money.

Do you know what? I am going to apologize to you because I just saw in your signature that you are a disabled veteran. So I do sincerely apologize, and I thank you for your service.

Thx, Just lighten up.
If you want to really battle I love to in the Attic. Otherwise comments are at times in fun.

I actually make every effort when in public with a camera no matter where to be in a high level of awareness. I did have a watch ripped off my arm by a theif but I grabbed him and beat the crap out of him while others cheered. Then the Policia showed up heard what happened and picked up where I left off. It did help being a personal friend of the Chief of the national police too.

In a recent link provided by another UHH member the Nat Geo writer recommended several times that travelers cover the camera logos. I'm not sure why he felt this was so important. Do you follow this practice?

No, ChrisT, I have never covered the logo.

No desire to battle. Glad you accepted my apology. I was turned away from the military the instant they found out I had a screw in my shoulder from my football days. I admire folks like you, and would be proud to be your friend.

I would worry less about an unreadable tiny white logo. The thing to avoid is OEM camera strap with Nikon D850 in blazing yellow that says "come and get me" from a football field away.

Nice for the ego, but a billboard for thieves. Dump it for a RapidR or plain strap.

Non-distinct bag, black tape on logs. Maybe overkill, but you'll still have your gear. No shoulda, coulda, woulda's. No REGERTS!
