I stopped shopping at Lowes years ago. The first five years after I moved here I shopped a lot at Lowes. I purchased things like a lawn mower, a refrigerator, a shed for the back yard, a clothes dryer, materials to insulate and panel the garage, plants and landscape materials, and numerous other items. According to my MS Money program I spent about $9,000 there. Back then there wasn't a Home Depot near me, now there is.
I saw a notice in the Lowes window for help wanted and since I had experience in home maintenance I applied on-line. I spent hours filling out their job application, a resume, a cover sheet and three inane tests of 100 questions each they required. After submitting all that crap it only took what seemed like minutes for them to email me back saying, basically, "go to hell". Now the only time I'll go to Lowes is if I can't find what I need elsewhere (Home Depot, Walmart, Amazon, etc.) or I'm passing a Lowes store and need some small item costing less that $10.00.
To Lowes as far as I'm concerned.

So basically you are upset because they did not hire you. This has nothing to do with customer services but your own failure to get hired.

No, not because they didn't hire me. Because after I spent hours filling out that crap they dismissed it so quickly. They should have waited a day or so and it wouldn't have bothered me so much. Then maybe I would still be shopping there, but probably not. The Home Depot they opened since then is closer to me than Lowes. And I have a lot of Ryobi tools.

When I applied in person for a bike assembler at Walmart I didn't have to go through all the crap and was hired on the spot. I guess they needed someone quickly and were impressed with the experience I had working on submarines. That would transfer over to assembling bicycles, wouldn't it?

If you have a MY Lowes card, when you register as a vet all you have to do is show the mylowes card to get the discount. The online regestration would not accept my application so I had to go in with my DD214 to the customer service desk, it took about 5 minutes for them to attach my veteran status to the MYLOWES card.

At home depot they will not give the military discount on every purchase unless you can show an active military ID card or some other form of military affiliation. The DD214 is not acceptable as proof of service except on 3 holidays per year. I have been told that twice this year. I carry a photo of mine on my phone since I am not able to get proof of service from the VA yet. Although Home Depot says that they are veteran friendly they make it very difficult to get the discount. I do most of my shopping at Lowes since it is a half mile from my house, home depot is approximately 3 miles away and they always give me a hassle for the discount.

Ditto Home Depot. I have gotten veteran discount at both stores. In Texas you can get veteran imprinted on your driver license or CHL
at renewal.

Kwikset is the company that makes easily programable door locks... Takes maybe 15 seconds to reprogram if you are goofing off...

You buy all the locks with different keys... choose one key... make all the locks match... And the bonus is if you are renting out a place say you have 4 locks... Each key can be programmed
for all locks... Meaning that use one key for the first tenant.... Take the second key for the next new batch of tenants... etc... will only take a minute to reprogram

I was in the Army Reserve from 1969-1975. Two months ago I brought my discharge paper, DD214, to Lowes customer service. The Customer Service person entered my info into the computer and gave me a My Lowes card and told me to have it scanned for any purchase. I get a 10% military discount on every purchase at every Lowes and also on line. For years I would go to Home Depot before I would go to Lowes. I am rehabing a house and I now go to Lowes almost every day.

I think in this context it means CDL Commercial Drivers License... Might have been a typo

I have "Veteran" printed on my Nevada drivers license. Is that good enough to get the veteran discount at Lowes, Home Depot or anywhere else that gives a veteran discount?

First of all, you are to be commended for your honesty. I admire that. Secondly, I have been doing business with Lowes for over 40 years. They are a fine, customer friendly company.

Here is a reverse story about honesty. I was shopping for some items for my employer. When I got back to the store, I realized I had lost $40.00. In desperation, I went back to see if anyone might have turned in $40.00. Much to my relief, an employee found it and turned it it, per company policy. Had I not recovered the money, I would have had to make up the difference myself.
