Last week I had to replace all the locks and handles in a house. Since all locks had to use the same key I requested for them to do that as well as producing 4 additional keys.

Since the guy who did that was off for the day I paid for the stuff and left the locks in the store. The additional keys were not included in my bill.

We got the stuff yesterday. At home I realized we had not paid for the keys. My wife went back to the customer services and pay.

Low-and-behold not only did they not make her pay but gave her a $50.00 gift card!!!

'This is the first time we see someone come back to pay for something we forgot to charge' was the manager explanation...

Very nice! Did you know that one of the lock companies has DIY lock/key adjustments? You can buy any number of their locks and have them all fit the same key. I think It's Kwikset.

this happens once in a while, but very rarely. I was offered a reward one time but didn't take it.

I’ve been dealing with Lowe’s for decades (and their corporate customer headquarters used to be my customer for computer servers/storage), and their customer friendliness has always been first-rate. BTW, they give veterans 10% off on every purchase. Combine that with 5% off using their card (and of course paying it off within 30 days so no interest) can save you substantial bucks on a purchase such as an appliance.

Good for you, honesty does pay! I use Lowes often and they are a great store. One of the few that always gives a 10% discount for vets.

My oldest son was working at Lowes while going through 4 years at college. He applied for a day (6 weeks in advance) off so he could attend HIS GRADUATION. They said no. He told them to stuff it. I have not been back into a Lowes since.

I believe Home Depot gives the 10% Vets discount as well. At least my local one does.

Years ago I went into a bank to cash my paycheck. I deposited most of it and wanted $100.50 in cash. The cashier handled the transaction and I returned to my vehicle to place the ten dollar bills into the various envelopes my wife used to budget expenses. Somehow I had $50 left over. I realized that the cashier had given me $150.50 instead of $100.50. I re-entered the bank and got into line for the same teller. When I finally got to the window I was greeted with a sharp "What's wrong?" and V-shaped eyebrows. I tried to explain what had happened and she rudely cut me off. I calmly set the five ten dollar bills down and told her, "You might need this when you tally-up this afternoon" and promptly turned to go. The manager had witnessed the event and approached me. She thanked me and told me to see her if I ever needed financial assistance or advice. Even though I was small-potatoes I was always treated with warm respect thereafter.

I've had a number of experiences similar to the bank teller one above but my favorite was at the now defunct Channel.
I bought a cart load of building materials and when the cashier rang it up the total was about half of what it should have been. Seemed like she had only charged me for one angel of Sheetrock instead of the dozen I had on the cart. Thinking that her mistake was pretty obvious I told her:
"I don't think that's right"
With a scornful look she said:
"Well, that's what the computer says"
I paid her and left. It was the attitude that got me.

Yes it is Kwikset smartly locks. Love ours. in less than a minute you can change the lock over to another key and that's very handy if you need to give a key to someone else while out of town. /then when you return you key it back to your original key.. Nice too to key all locks in the house to the same key.

Around here the Lowes stores do not combine the discount, so I use a lower interest charge card that gives me points, Bob.
