Yes indeed...good luck. We have traveled quite a bit and I retire the end of this year and we will do an extended vacation starting in January. I am curious as to why Iceland? How come I have never thought of Iceland. What is it about Iceland that made you choose it? At any rate, have a great time.

This could be frustrating because you will be overwhelmed by too many excellent photo ops.
Please just mark me as envious ! Have a great time and pst when you get home!

My wife and I spent 2.5 weeks in Iceland last August. Amazing place. Lots of photo ops. Iceland has only 350K people, however, they get over 2 million visitors a year. Most (obviously) in the summer months. We lucked out and saw the northern lights one "clear" night. You should to this time of year. Bring your plastic as everything is very expensive. Have fun, good luck.
Thank you all for your positive and wonderful messages concerning my upcoming trip to Iceland. Been looking forward to this trip for two years. I am praying the weather and the Sun allows for a "Northern Lights" opportunity. we have booked a road trip around the "Golden triangle" and hope to get good waterfall photos as well. I will share here all the best ones for you to drool over ;-) I only hope I so not screw up with the camera. I did buy the book on shooting the "northern lights" recommended by many of our members and it seems to be straight forward. Good Tripod, wide angle lens, remote trigger and long exposures. We will see...
We are off on the silver bird tomorrow night out of Boston - obviously a direct flight - over water...
