I arrived at the Nubble lighthouse before sunrise and used my flashlight to make my way down the rocks toward the shore. There were two more photographers already down there and setup. The clouds were fairly heavy but the early light came through to offer pretty good images. This is one of the early shots.

The early Bird gets the worm!!!

Have been to Cape Neddick several times. Would have killed to see the conditions you saw. Wonderful image.

Sure is beautiful. I believe that's the best shot I've seen of that lighthouse and I've seen many. Great job.

Nicely done! Did you use in-camera HDR or to a multi-shot HDR to get such good all-around lighting?

Sorry, my last response was not correct...looking at the wrong image. This was a single long exposure...Sony A7rii, 16-35mm @ 35mm, f5.6, ISO 320, 25 sec

There was another light out on the right side but not sure if it was a lighthouse or not. I came down from Portland where I shot the Portland Head Light but this was about an hour south of that in York, ME. I must of arrived at the Nubble before 6 AM as it was still pretty dark.

Russjc & RSS,

We used to sail those waters and further Down East when we were living in MA. The 'mystery' light might be Cape Elizabeth; normally you wouldn't be able to see it from the Nubble, but in the darkness, with the light lit, it might be visible. There is also a small island with a very tall light further to the East, perhaps off Kennebunkport, and further East, about half way between the Nubble and Cape Elizabeth. Unfortunately, I can't recall its name and my charts are all on the boat.
