If it's under warranty, Canon may pay for the return shipment. With HP I was sent another printer and I sent back the broken printer. Just make sure you get a new printer not refurbished.
Thanks everyone. It is a new printer, less than a month old. Not sure if I should call Canon or B&H.
I called Canon, explained the problem, and without hesitation I was given an RMA#. No hassle and delivery is free. Thanks again for all your help.
I wonder if the OP is witnessing, nothing more than the printers startup routine? Whenever you turn the printer on or allow it to set idle for more than sixty hours the printer goes through quite a ritual before it’s again ready to print. During that ritual the print head moves back and forth so rapidly that it will shake the printer. I would dare say there’s nothing wrong with the printer. If you want to avoid all of the slamming and banging, then keep the printer turned on and print something very small within a sixty hour schedule.
Watcher, you sound like you have knowledge of this issue. Do you work for Canon tech support? If so, why is this not in the owner’s manual? How do you know this is a true statement? I’m pretty sure that not everyone that owns this printer wants to print something every 60 hours. I would be upset with Canon if this is indeed true. If it is true (from Canon), potential customers should have access to this but of knowledge so that they can decide before they purchase as this my not be the right product for them.
