Old barns on there way out.
Great series. Looks like something I need to do, take long drives off the beaten path looking for old barns. There should be some not too far from here. Sounds like a wonderful thing to do on a quiet weekend.
The last one is my favorite! Well done!
Great series, nicely photographed. Sad to see these in the shape they are in.
So sad to see a bygone era. It's happening around here too, but new ones are being built.
I hate seeing old barns deteriorate. And I have one that's doing just that. For 10 years I've tried to get someone to fix it and no one will do it. No one wants to work anymore and I can't do it myself. Sometimes I cry.
Nice photos.
In the second photo I was going to say they should get that tractor out of there before the building collapses on it but then I thought it probably doesn't run and maybe it's holding up part of the barn.
Now we know just where the barn wood comes from for new construction.
Thats too bad, such a shame. #1 and 2 looked like still being used. Looks like a tractor in the lower right on #2, and bins stored in #1.
Beautiful photographs of hauntingly sad images. Well done. You have preserved the memory of these places.
Looks to me it could use some help. lol.
Nice series, Hal. It's happening all over New England as well. I once had a collection of 200+ photos of old barns; it disappeared during the early days of the Google Cloud.

Old barns are awesome! Lost my favorite barn several years ago to a 2 foot snow load...
I often wonder about such places. At one time someone with a lot of energy and drive decided to create a new family business farming the land. At the turn of the last century almost everyone made their living farming. Over a few generations the kids wanted to get off the farm and move to the city. The world wars came and changed the economics of the world. Economics made it not worth it anymore. It's a sad tribute to an era that has passed into history.
