Yep...

Sony cameras are feature heavy and available at a VERY competitive price!

Indeed! Landscape, product and as you mentioned, architecture. Limited, but when you have a 64 or 80mp file to work with, it is fun. There are quite a few former pro photographers who have switched from medium format to use m4/3’s hi res for product photography due to the size advantage.

I'm not sure it would get much landscape use. There's always some sort of motion, whether it's wind blowing plants, ocean, streams, clouds, etc. Maybe the Grand Canyon on a cloudless day. :)

Yes -- agreed the pixel shift feature is limited to a few uses -- like product and architectural photography -- and useful for some macro photography -- anything that doesn't move. But yes -- not that useful for landscape photography for the reasons you stated.

Although you already have the 42 mega pixel sensor -- and an incredible assortment of native lenses for landscape photography. So an incredible landscape camera.

Of all the cameras Tony Northrup owns, for landscape, he uses the EM1 mark2 hi res). It isn’t as limited as you think. In fact the EM1 mark2 fixes light foliage movement in camera. The EM5 mark2 doesn’t, which is what I have, but it works just fine for most landscape work. No different than bracketing for HDR. If extremely windy? Oh well. I can just take a single shot and still able to print larger than I have space for.

I wonder how long we will wait for the next story - and will it be people waiting in line to purchase one because Sony didn't have enough buffered up before the announcement, or will be it DxoMark scores.

The camera itself is great for landscape, just the pixel shift technology that wouldn't be used for that. In Tony Northrup's recent video he even says it's for studio work only.

You have to subtract -2 from anything Tony Northrup says.

Watch the video on the D850. He mentioned that he uses the EM1 mark2 for landscape. Either way, it doesn’t matter.
