Glad you have defined "fear" thank you. Or perhaps people who don't do as you are fearful. That would make you fearless.

Thanks for my "morning chuckle"!
You at UHH can make a difference. If you don't like the Adobe subscription model. There are choices and many great alternatives -- especially if you are an enthusiast, where cost may be a very important factor to you. Do you really want to pay $10 a month for software you might only use once a month? Do your research, know what's available, leverage the expertise of other UHH members.
In the end, if you don't like the Adobe model (which is very expensive) then vote with your feet! vote with your wallet! Competition is good -- it forces innovation.
Susan -- I'm not afraid. ;-) I went with PaintShop Pro a long time ago -- been extremely satisfied with my choice and never looked back. Adobe can do what they want -- but I refuse to get on that train.

Glad you are happy with your choice, I am also quite happy with my choice of being a CC subscriber for over 4 years now, I don’t worry about buying updates, never worry about missing out on the latest features and performance of the best & newest products, and am content knowing my Adobe products will always work with my OS and new camera.
BTW - subscription price has been exactly the same since I joined, for my 9.99 per month I get the latest Lightroom, Bridge, ACR, and of course the full Photoshop version.

Excellent! Glad you are happy with your choice. Hey -- we're both happy. :-)
Hey -- if you like what you're getting for $120 a year -- go for it!

Not everyone resists the newer technology! And it makes sense for many to switch from Adobe CC - especially if they don't use PS CC! The total bundle is what makes it worth it to me, at least for now...

This has nothing to do with technology. It's purely about the business model. Adobe is pretty much going the route -- where they choose to offer their software only via the subscription business model (now the only product they offer standalone is Photoshop Elements).
I really have no issue with anyone going the Adobe route. I just feel it's my duty to educate people on the pros and cons of the subscription business model. Adobe is not a bad route to go if you heavily use the software (i.e. you use it enough to justify the $10 a month fee). Where it isn't -- is someone who maybe uses the software once or twice a month -- why pay $10 a month when you only use the software once or twice a month? I see so many people that are in this enthusiast -- barely use the software mode -- and most of the time I help them either to move to Photoshop Elements or go to a competitive alternative. Many, many people have thanked me for helping them.

I have Adobe's full suite from a few years ago installed with virtual copies of every app. and seldom use them. I go with DxO Optics Pro 11 Elite. Still it's good to have PS and LR with ALL plugins when I need them, but it's not often.

Ok. I'm back -- and on my soap box again now -- Folks -- if you don't like what Adobe is doing -- get educated and search out the alternatives...
Macphun Luminar
Corel Aftershot Pro 3
ACDSee Studio 2018
Capture One
Serif Affinity Photo
etc...
What Adobe is doing is seriously weak -- It would be ok if they gave you both purchase options -- but they don't.
Shame on you Adobe.
Ok-- Done yelling at the cloud for now.

Perhaps instead of "technology", I should have just said "anything new". There are those who just want to keep the status quo.

I agree with you about finding alternatives if someone is not going to use the subscription enough to make it worth the price! And it is definitely inconvenient for people who would rather use only one program which the stand alone versions permitted. I follow these discussions to learn about the other available programs to which I could switch if Adobe gets too expensive.

Unless you have been in the software business you don't know what you are even talking about. At $10 a month it probably takes two thousand subscribers to pay for one software engineer and associated overhead for a year. People are not willing to pay the price of a couple Happy Meals to use these tools each month...WOW...

Yes, I have never given apple a penny because they charge twice what they should for inferior products (I've built two incredibly power editing workstations for the price of one mac trash can).
Adobe did fine without the leasing model. This is nothing more than pure greed at work and I refuse to send adobe a message that it's okay by perpetuating it.
So NO, I'm not willing to pay the price of a couple of happy meals because the price isn't the point. Adobe software has gotten buggier and more and more bloated over the years, there are so many band-aids in its code, I'm surprised it can start up at all. And with their intent to shove whatever changes they like down your throat every month, no thanks. I'll never require a piece of Adobe software for video work again because all my friends in production video have switched from Premiere to Resolve, which is far superior and simultaneously replaces After Effects as well. I'll never require a piece of adobe software for photography again because Darkroom and Affinity do the EXACT same job as LR and PS (occasionally better), without all the added corporate, greed-based bullshit. If I do find myself in the unlikely situation of requiring a piece of adobe software, then I'll just pirate it until the project's finished. The entire 2018 CC platform is readily available, totally stripped of all DRM and other corporate bullshit (and comments claim that it all runs a thousand times more smoothly than the leased version). I'm not historically an internet pirate but adobe has made it morally okay to me with their ravenous greed and their ruining of a once-great brand that was about the creative process, not pure profit.
You're willing to allow a greedy corporation to continue to rape the ethics of good business so you can use these flaky tools each month...WOW...
Adobe has you bent over your own desk, spreading your cheeks apart as wide as they say and apparently you love it, so keep that head down and keep spreading wider and wider every month. As for myself, I'm not big business's bitch and I never will be.

This is a great review and recommendation coming from a non-user. Lot's of unfounded allegations and negative criticism based on no first hand experience. But opinions are neither right or wrong - they are just opinions and everyone is entitled to have one.
