May be Panasonic Lumix mirrorless is a better choice than Sony Alpha 6000 ?

Just responded to someone else. I have one of each a6000 and a6300. The a6000 is 90-95% as good as the a6300. The Lumix has a 4/3 sensor which is half the size of the aps-c sensor in the Sonys. It is also stated as 13 mgpxl effective. All this is okay if all you will do is post to Facebook. If you want to print your prized image, it will break down at a much smaller size. The Sony a6000 has made three major trips with me and taken thousands of good images. It's subject recognition and follow focus is beyond any other non-professional camera. The a6300 is my choice for video.

It is my only camera. Our club of 30 or so people and over the last 3 years 9 of them have purchased this camera. Some have better lenses than I do but all of us enjoy their capable camera. My only complaint is shooting in sport mode it still can't get tack sharp images of my labradoodles coming straight into the lens. Otherwise it is a mighty fine camera that works well with my adaptor and Takamar lenses from my old film Pentax camera.

I bought a a6000 kit from Costco a couple years ago. It came with 18-55mm and 55-210mm. Soon after, I found a used 10-18mm/4 lens and the combination became my goto travel camera. I got tired of swapping out the kit lens depending on the shot and so, earlier year, I bought a 18-105/f4. Now, travel is made easy with the very capable a6000 long with the 10-18/f4 and 18-105/f4. I've been reasonably happy with almost all the images with my only bitches being the menu structure (all my other cameras are Canons) and the poor battery life. Even with wifi in the airplane mode, I never get through a day without swapping out the battery. I always carry two spares. Lastly, I use an external charger rather than in camera. Lastly, since the 18-105 is on the body most of the time, I've pretty much lost the weight battle I set out to remedy. The 18-105 is not a light lens by any means.

To the OP: According to my a6000 experience (3 years), greyfox is supplying some very accurate information, here ~ especially his remarks about menu structure and battery life.

Simply FWIW, and mostly for others who may be reading this thread, and considering a mirrorless (MILC) camera with the APS-C sensor ~ my limited experience:

My pre-digital experience was with a Minolta SLR, a Canon SLR, + several Minolta and Olympus rangefinders.

Sony a6000 was purchased (used) on April 29, 2014

From my camera journal: After trying to photograph flying grand-kids, dogs, jet boats flying up the river, etc., with several compact and pocket cameras of 5-7 years ago; in April of 2014, I purchased a "used" Sony Alpha a6000 for $400 and the previous semi-pro owner threw in an unused 16-50mm kit zoom (which I seldom use). With the right prime lens that camera system captures almost anything that moves.

From a note to a friend with a vast and varied camera experience: "Gotta tellya ~ even though Sony is no longer updating the a6000 and the photography press is only talking about the a6300-6500; of my 5 cameras, nothing beats the a6000 for the street. It's quicker getting into operation (from "off"), and significantly quicker to get a candid shot than any of my other digital cameras."

Fujifilm X-E2 with 18-55mm "kit zoom", purchased on eBay, October 23, 2016, because the "Zony" 16-70mm f/4 midrange zoom was expensive and had a poor quality control record. IMHO, the Fujifilm X-cameras are the easiest cross-over from the SLR/DSLR world, because the menu and controls seem so "familiar".

I have been very happy with my NEX-5 which is a couple of versions earlier and much less capable. It is a lot easier to take and use than my Nikon D800e kit. I have the Sony 18-200 lens and a 8mm fisheye for it. Lots of fun! Light and compact.

I've used a A6000 as a travel camera for a couple years and it has performed flawlessly. The quality is as good as any crop sensor DSLR. You'll need to spend a little time with a manual as it has as many functions and options as a DSLR but it's well worth the effort. The only drawback is that it's a bit of a power hog and you should have at least one back up battery to carry with you.

I just bought the A6000 from Adorama with a kit that included the short and the long zoom lenses, bag, memory card, cleaning stuff, filters and software new at $848. That includes a (temporary?) discount of $150 and it seems to be the going price right now. I cannot say much about the camera's performance as I am just starting to learn it, but it feels good in the hand, is small and fairly light, and the controls are logical, at least for a film camera user.
