Sony A65 or Canon 60D ? I curently own both a Sony A100 & a Canon t1i & find I've outgrown them both. I have big hands & find the Sony A100 fits better & it has served me well, now...

I curently own both a Sony A100 & a Canon t1i & find I've outgrown them both. I have big hands & find the Sony A100 fits better & it has served me well, now comes the question since I have both canon & sony lens. Which to buy. I know I can pick up a Canon 60D (18-meg) body Refurb. on CLP for around $600 & this camera would meet my needs for years to come but the Navy Exchange is now offering the Sony A65 (24-meg) for $899. no tax. They are both awesome cameras. Can't make up my mind! Help from those who own these cameras.

Thank you for the review. I considered the canon 7D but I'm not into video which is the plus for the 7D if memory serves me.

They are always comming out with new & better, it's like the computer market. But worth waiting to see. Maybe the price will drop on he 7D.

You say you have outgrown the cameras you have. In what way, what do you want to do that you can't do now? Or, and this is really OK do you just want a new camera?

If the later get the best and newest you can afford that allows you to keep your glass.

Lens that are available for 60D, swivel screen (I have bad knees), Larger body (I have big hands) features on 60D. Just to name a few. Being retired I need to watch my nickels & dimes. I had considered a 40D prior. As you have said, your glass is everything!

I have a 60D (and love it) and, like you, have large hands so the camera feels too small. I purchased the optional battery grip which totally solved that problem in additional to providing additional battery life.

Oh, they're available from many sources, certainly from B&H and other reliable on-line sources. I purchased mine from a local camera store in Omaha. B&H sells the Canon grip for around $160 (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/734854-REG/Canon_4740B001_BG_E9_Battery_Grip_for.html), and sell off-brands for about 1/2 that. You will also need to purchase one additional battery. Canon batteries go for around $60 at B&H, off-brands about $35. Prices at the local camera store are usually a little higher.

I used battery grips on all my old Rebels also, but it seems that every camera upgrade required a new grip and battery.

The 60D does video too. The 7D is much faster and larger. If you have large hands the 7D is a better fit. I'd hold them and compare.
