I am nearing the end of selling my widow friend's photography equipment? I came across this item and have no clue other than it belongs with a Leica/Leitz camera. Can anyone identify it. Maybe you could use it and give my friend a donation and shipping for it? Thanks

The company was originally called Ernst Leitz Wetzlar, they made microscopes. When they moved to cameras, they switched to LEICA from LEItz CAmera.

It looks like something related to a lens. Here's what that number (M2736) gave me on Google.

It's a clip on lens hood. Looks like for a 35mm. It's marked M2/35 which is a Summicron. It's worth about $65.00 on ebay

I'd suggest trying to unload it on the Leica forum.

Obviously it is a lens hood, and as is clearly indicated, it is for the 21 f/3.4 and 28 f/2.8 lenses. Though not indicated, these would be M lenses.

Apparently not that obvious, it's for a summicron 35mm. :)

There are 2 different ones. That is why I listed it as parts 1 and 2. What do you think the other one is?

All 4 pictures are of lens hoods. All Leica. (or Leitz if you like)

There are 2 sets of pictures, a total of 8. The each look similar, but one is smaller than the other.

They kept making surveying equipment under the Leitz name-- at least until the mid-80's when I quit the machinist trade.
