Peter - if I knew, beforehand, I was buying smelly trash - which would contaminate my clothes, for years to come - I certainly would NOT have gone forth with EITHER deal ...

"the other" referred to manuals, battery, charger, etc., etc. ....

Well, Mr Pentax K5II ... since UHH is a photography web-site and forum, obviously, this was a reference to cameras and lenses ... actually, I never thought of that .. I wonder if anyone here has a cat to sell me ....

OF COURSE, it's a REAL question, Via ... I'm just interested in how others shop for realistic prices on cameras and lenses ... I've found from past experiences, you are probably better off buying cameras new, or - at the very least - refurbished by the manufacturer. Lenses, though? ... It's a toss-up ... you don't really need a manual, or any accessories (other than a hood, and front and rear caps) so - used is definitely a better option - particularly, if you wish to save a bundle! ...

What refurbished camera or lens did you buy, and from whom, that didn't come with the manuals and all the usual accessories?

Does a new D7000 come with a manual? Is a manual not available online?

Then I assume it was not a Nikon refurb. Canon factory refurbs come with everything a new camera would have. I assume a Nikon factory refurb would also. Adorama has an excellent reputation, as do several others, but I would only buy a refurb done by the manufacturer.

Lfingar ... actually - it was ADORAMA who sent me the first smelly camera ... I bought the refurb. D7000 from them to replace it, thinking I might be able to use the battery grip I bought for the D90 on it ... but, sadly - it doesn't fit ... and, no ... you don't get a manual when you buy a refurbished Nikon ....

It was B&H who sent me the SECOND smelly camera ... a K-3 ... which I finally swapped for my new D7100 ...

Chris, not all cameras come with a manual. All the pro stuff does, but some of the consumer stuff, even new, is shipped without a manual.
Don't know about now, but even a few years ago, you could request a manual from Canon and they would print it and ship it free of charge. With smart phones that may have stopped, I haven't asked for a few years.

Never got a smelly camera before...., maybe they saw you coming!!!

Ched - don't use it a lot, huh?

I don't know about you, but when I get a new camera ... I shoot it, practically 24 hours per day ....

Why, I even take it to bed with me, for the first week ... I never even let it out of my sight ....

Sharpshooter ... I've dealt with Adorama since 1970 ... back, then ... it was mostly darkroom supplies, though ...

I can't remember when I started dealing with B&H ... I think it was in the 80s, though ...

I have catalogues from them dating back some 35 years, though ... it's rather discomforting to realize I cannot trust either one of them to sell me non-smelly used equipment ...

Have you considered consulting a doctor about your olfactory issues? Could it be diet related?
