I think I'll wait for the D900, my D800E and Sony Alpha 7r II takes good enough pictures for me right now.

If the resources were available and you presently owned the D810 and D500 would you sell one or both and buy the D850?

I've never had any interest in the D8xx. It originally had SD and CF card slots. The new model still takes two different types of cards, and it lost its pop-up flash. I know that "Real Photographers" never use that silly little flash, but I do. My D750s are perfect for my needs, and I have a D5300 if I want DX.

LensRentals.com should have the D850 soon. I would rent it and compare images taken with all three cameras using the same lens. The D810 and D500 are both outstanding cameras. I would probably keep them. I have a D500. I've been very impressed with it.

I am in that position now and use the D810 for landscapes and the D500 for wildlife. I do not need the extra's offered on the D850 for now to make me switch. I do like the tilting screen on the back of the D850 cause it's harder for me to get down and look through the back of my D810. I probably will hold on to the D810 until Nikon lowers the price on the D850 and throws in a battery grip. I can afford to wait.

Obviously all you dream about is the newest camera which will not do anything more than what you are using now. Spend your money and tell everyone what you just purchased.

I have the D500 - being a senior (on the north side of 80) it is light enough to take with me on my walks in the park etc. The D5 with the full frame lens was far too heavy to hand-hold for exposures or carry too far.

Now the D850 comes along with it's ~ 45 Meg sensor - that in crop mode will have ~ 20 Meg sensor. For just a few more 'body' ounces I could put my C lens on it for my walks in the park etc. and still have the full frame when needed. My first question will be "Will the high ISO noise in this mode be the same or better than the D500? In the C mode, assuming the ISO/Noise is ~ the same, the only advantage that the D850 has over the D500 is the 'focus stacking'

I have the bad habit of buying without selling. Now I'm stuck with an F F2as F3 F4 F5 F6 D200 D500 and D800. What a sucker. Probably a D850 when it goes on sale.

While I upgraded from the D7100 - mainly because with the buttons etc, was easier to use, I still have my original D5100 with it's stock lens. It is small and light - It takes good photo's in Auto and it is perfect for my grandkids to use when I take them out with me.

I have a 500, 750 and 810. If I do go for the 850 I will sell the 750; in time I might also sell the 810.

I have a 700, Df, and 800E. I would never get rid of the Df, but would consider replacing the 800E with the 850.
Even if I keep the 800E, I see an 850 in my future.

It seems that this new D850 is giving a lot of people a GAS attack :~)

For me, that is exactly right--a definitive attack.
But there is more: Aside from my limited ability, I want to know that I am using the best gear I can responsibly afford to create the best possible images. It the 850 adds features, resolution to that end, I will in time make that choice.
There is no end to the madness.

What are some of the features you like about the DF?

It reminds me of my youth, looking cool carrying around a Nikon F2.

I do like the easy access knobs and controls, low light performance, and colors I get with the Df.
It is the body attached to a 35mm lens, that I carry daily.

FD interested me as well. Waiting to see if they come up with an upgraded version.
