The calls that get thru go to voice mail. We will call back if we want to.

I do that sometimes too.

My dad loves messing with telemarketers. He'll string them along for as long as possible before telling them to get lost. He turns it into a game for his own amusement.

For your landline, look into NOMOROBO. It is free on landlines and stops most of these calls after the first ring. I believe they charge for cellphones, but the landline version works well.

Ah, maybe that's why my phone sometimes rings only once.

Thats all well and good, however, my wife and I keep getting robocalls and a recorded message telling us we stayed at one of their resorts and if we remain on the line a live person will come on to advise us of the reward, OR, there is an issue with our account, just stay on the line so they they can have an operator assist us in clearing it up.

Usually it hits my wife's number, then within 5 minute it hits my cell number. Heather sounds like a very nice girl, but she is lying when she says we stayed at one of their resorts or booked a cruise recently with them. :D

They also get tricky with changing the number reportedly dialed from, so it is a local area code and a different number each time, so more difficult to ID/block.

Any suggestion?

No suggestions but apparently I stayed at the same resort as you didn't because I get the same calls over and over. I did stay on the line one time thinking I would tell the person I had never stayed there and had no interest. When a live person came on the line I started to explain but she hung up on me. I also get numerous phone calls telling me I need to renew the extra warranty service on my truck. Unfortunately I haven't owned that truck in 5 years. How do you beat these things is a great question.

Yeah, I used to get the resort and travel calls, but I said No and hung right up. I used to tell them to put me on their No-Call list.

Check the provided link and it will tell you which carriers provide this service.

I'm sure I am not alone as one who is inundated with the nuisance robocalls. I am on the verge of declaring victory over theses scumbags. About a week ago I became "Big Joe's Fishbait and BBQ Emporium" in answering these easily id'd calls. The phone rings, I pick it up and answer using that phrase, and ad, "if younwant bbq, that takes a little longer, 'cause I have to wash up the fishbait befo I make the Q." Click. I guess my caller is uninterested in bbq or fishbait!!!

Love it! I like to play with these folks too. Sometime I'll just keep saying "Hello, Hello!? I can't hear you" or "FBI, Agent Smith speaking".
Wife thinks it's stupid... and she may be right...but that won't stop me😊

It's not worth my time to "play with them." They're just hourly workers trying to earn a living by making as many phone calls as they can and getting people to buy things. The ones you want to torment are the heads of those companies.

A couple of months ago we bought the CPR 5000 mentioned in jerryc41's response . The silence is golden.

That is a good suggestion Pat - thank you. Installed it yesterday, and my phone has been silent all morning - by now I would have had several robocalls.

I have been having the same exact thing happening recently. Caller ID shows same area code and first three digits as my number. It is also the same call, i.e., same upbeat young woman every time, Jessica, same spiel " you stayed at our resort and won a free vacation". I can't block the number because it's never the same number twice.

The new game is called "spoofing." I even get these calls and my own number or one in town shows on the caller ID.
