I am a committed Christian that loves taking pictures. I want to somehow get God/Jesus involved with my photography. I want to shoot pictures that have a single Christian theme such as God's love, crosses, Christian road signs, God's mercy, God's power, etc. I don't want to shoot flowers, animals, plants. Any ideas with examples would be much appreciated. Blessings: Bob Example: For years I was heavily involved with the Christian Motorcyclist Association. Christian bikers wear colorful colors on the back of their jackets of their various Christian clubs and are very photogenic with the motorcycles. At that time I was not into photography. I went to hundreds of biker rallies each year spreading the Gospel and could have taken some great pictures of say a Hell's Angel with his arms around a Christian biker praying together. I want to maybe even print a book with some inspiring pictures that glorify our Lord/God

Go into your workshop and try to make a flower, animal or plant. Don't discount miracles that we see every day.

Bob, Pray before you shoot. I always ask the Lord to please show me what He sees and that my photography would glorify Him. Always give Him credit- no puff, strut for us. (He is working on me as far as this. The old flesh you know.) He always blesses this prayer and I know He will for you also. That is all that you need to do. Sandy

Bob, Pray as CSand said. I attempted to teach a beginning photo class at a small Christian school in San Antonio when I first retired from the Air Force. The kids best results came during a session when I had them "Show God in pictures", they, most of them went to young kids 4-8 years old and asked them for ideas! Anyway that session resulted in 1,2,3 place color and 1st place b&w in a state wide contest among the Christian Schools in Texas that year. They shot closeups of cactus, landscapes etc. Gods hand is everywhere, don't handicap yourself by restricting yourself to a very narrow window.

Hi CSAnd,

I am a senior - and since getting into photography, I am noticing more of the things "The Lord" has created for us to enjoy. Taking photographs helps others to see what they, all to often miss. e.g. this is a small potted flower on a table where people eat - these days all too often competing with what Man has created - cell phones.

There are times when I'm photographing that a particular word is in my mind when I click the shutter. Suddenly, I discovered that these words are attributes of God. So I assembled some of them into a photo book that I called "Attributes of God." I used that book to hopefully make an impact on people who aren't particularly interested in things Godly.

Perhaps you could look for things in nature that take the shape of the cross, for example, or some other symbol of Christianity.

Hi AzPicLady,

The cross came into use when Constantine made Christianity the official 'religion'. Up to then, the symbol was a fish:
This is one taken at the Toronto Aquarium.

Time to hang my head in shame, I've been a photographer for a long time, but only a Christian for 11 years, and in that time it has never occurred to me ask God what to shoot! I feel a change coming on!

I'm confident that you regularly ask God for direction in your daily life, in what you think, say and do .... and that includes your photographic activity. He knows.

I suspect that God is happy watching what YOU choose to photograph, just like this bee is doing what it was created for: Taking the time to learn how to use your camera to get the best possible photo of what you choose to photograph is real praise go God.

God is expressed so much in His Creation, so I love being out in it and photographing it.

You got Jesus! So a prayer, a camera, and an open heart are all you need for an exciting journey
