Most any historical monuments or statues representing historical figures could be offensive to practically anyone. For example, some Japanese living in the US could be offended by the WWII memorials around the US because they represent, to them, death of relatives by the American Imperialists. Because they are offended, should these symbols be removed from public viewing and placed in museums?
listen, this is America... if a small town wants to take down a statue, not a civil war memorial, but erected as backlash to civil rights movements, and the duly elected council decides that they want to remove a statue on city property... who are people from out-of-state to say otherwise? People with an displayed agenda of h**e and violence. It's none of their fucking business! That statue was erected in 1924 'cause da coloreds was getting too uppity! This is the heritage and history you're concerned with?
