Thanks Sylvia, Downham's claim to fame is the village was used in the making the film "Blowing Down the Wind". The director had all the aerials and phone wires taken down to create an old village atmosphere, the locals liked the idea so much that they have never been put back. If ever you get the chance you ought pay a visit to Bowland Forest which is an AONB, which is where Downham is situated.
